Writing to an SD card from windows...

Am I missing something obivious or what? I can't seem to write to either of my SD cards (1Gb) using Windows XP.

I have never done it before, always been transfering off the card, not onto it. Transfering off it still works fine, but writing too it seems impossible. I always get an error,

"The disk is write protected" or "Cannot remove the folder Misc: the disk is write protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk.".

I can use either of the cards to take photos and they work fine, just can't write to the cards from Windows. Am I missing some thing really obvious?

Is the lock switch on the SD card set to unlock?

it is set tp Unlocked on both cards (sorry forgot to mention that), but I did try it with it both settings, no effect same error.

If its in the locked position and I put it back into my camera then my camera says "card write protected" and won't let me take any photos.

Any other suggestions? I am going to try find another memory card reader.

download the newest firmware/drivers for your card reader.
