just wondered if anyone can help.

am trying to set up an 80cm dish with dual lnbs to pick up both the hotbird and astra (19.2 e) sats.
am a complete novice so please forgive me. have mounted dish successfully , and have signal strength of 80 % on lnb1 (astra sat) . trying to "find" hotbird is proving tricky - max 26/27 percent signal strength. not sure what to do .

using a dual lnb holder which may be a bit inadequate .any help with positioning et cetera would be appreciated.

I have a monoblock LNB with an 80cm dish centred on 19.2e and a TM1000D receiver. The Hotbird LNB part goes to the right handside as you face the dish and is slightly lower, about an inch down. This type of LNB is designed to be exactly 6deg offset to suite 13 and 19e, I'm sure the same set up with 2 LNBs would work perfectly. The ends of the LNBs are v.close together maybe 1inch between the feedhorns and are pushed out as far as possible from the dish using the LNB holder. Are you using a Discq switch at the dish?

Signal strenght is 82% for Astra and 70% for Hotbird, reception on both is v.stable.

discq switch ? yes. 2lnb inputs one out to fortec star receiver , which should support switching i think. might have to do a little diy on my lnb holder. thought anout a monoblock ....regret not getting it

Advice I got from this board - try rotating the LNB as well as elevation of the dish. Do also check that you can "see" Astra2 (28.2E).

Why Astra2 (28.2)? Goal here is 19.2e and 13e. They are so close together If your getting 19e with 80% you should be ok for the other. Maybe the reveiver set up for the switching is not right, i.e 1 and 2 selected, right way around etc...?

switch not even set up. am trying to tune each receiver in manually on a single line into the receiver prior to full hook up. --- sorry, meant astra 19.2e!
    not 28.2.

Before some meddling, reception of 19.2 and 13 was stable enough, but the BBC/ITV/FF channels from 28.2 kept dropping out. After some trial-and-error with the dish elevation, I managed to get all at at least 75% quality.

Of course you can forget about 28.2 if you are not interested in BBC/UTV/FF.
