[Request] Laptop Bags

Im buying a new laptop this week and I'd prefer not to be fleeced by Dell for their latest bland laptop case.

Can anyone recommend a decent brand of bag that would take a laptop, charger and a couple of A4 Binders without falling apart?

A friend told me to look at the Crumpler website but €100 for a bag is madness. I've tried ebay but Im just not sure what brands are actual bargains and which are bad quality..and therefore dirt cheap.

TK Maxx is often a good place to pick up bargain bags - bought 2 Crumpler bags there in the past year. The last one was a handbag-type thing costing €30. They seem pretty tough and waterproof and definitely worth the money.

I'm certain I saw a Crumpler Laptop bag on sale there. However that was ages ago now.

PC world have laptop bags (some included as part of a bundle) on offer in their sale at the moment. According to their sale pamphlet Antler's laptop bag (the 'New York' model) is €59.99. They say it's half price but this link brings that claim into question.

The Antler 'Lite' bag is €39.99 (down from €50).

I don't know anything about the quality of these Antler bags but hope this info's useful to ya.

If you are not looking for anything fancy then you can pick a laptop bag for €10 in Tesco. It's a decent bag and light weight.

I bought one leather bag from Dell when I got my laptop but it's heavy to carry it around. So got this one from Tesco...

I have one almost 2 years now and i find them great, my dad uses it to carry lots of paperwork as well and it has no problem taking the weight of all the paperwork, laptop and accessories...

Just an alternative idea for you:

I had a laptop bag and hated it - couldn't stand the design and stuff - found it really awkward so what I went for was this option: I bought a jansport backpack on ebay and one of these instead and it worked out a treat.

The two came to about 50e when i bought them last Christmas which is about the same as buying a jansport bag here in the shops. It gives you a fair bit of room which is useful and I also liked the security aspect that it isn't obvious that you're carrying a laptop.

Take a look at this recent thread here:
    http://pie.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055022709

I'm happy with the one I picked up recently. I can use the inner padded sleeve
on it's own if I want in a different backpack if needed as per Stepherunie's post
    above.

For under €50 in Harvey Normans (old ESB shop).

i also have the belkin messenger bag - 12" varietey, i have to say there is not much space for anything besides your laptop but it is an extremely small case - i can fit my laptop - the powercord and a A6 wacom tablet in the back pouch in mine, not much else

its a good case and well padded small (exactly what i was lookin for)
    mark

I'd have to agree with that. Was looking around in the €30 - €40 bracket and saw this one in tesco for €7.99. Said I'd try it and its perfectly fine. What can you lose at €7.99? If it doesn't work out buy something else.

What you can lose is a brand-spanking new laptop. I have heard some horror stories of laptops falling when running for a bus because of cheap laptop bags. It ain't cheap to repair laptop screens.

I used Ebay and got a nice feminine laptop case, for about Eu30. Its a Targus, so I had done some research there prior to purchase on the dimensions, weights, etc....
Check out some of the main makers, Antler etc then if you find one you are interested in its worth checking out ebay, ebags, and some other online resourses.
I did see some new ladys laptop cases in harvey normanns, but from memory the prices for those were up around the Eu100 mark.

My sis got a Laptop backpack in Tommy's in Northside shopping centre for abut £25 euro. She's really happy with it and it has lots of room for her college stuff.

Also, saw some very spacious ones in Dunnes with extra compartments for folders and things.

I have to agree with a few other posts here, the Tesco bag is incredible value at €7.99. It's stylish, padded and looks like the more expensive bags. It's for laptops with up to 15" screen.

The german large general goods shop, ,in capel street has laptop bags 20euro.BLack with backpack straps, and standard lanyard type carry belt.It has compartments, for discs, mouse, books, and 1 large space for the laptop.ITS about 2.5ft x2.ft in size.I WAS there 3 weeks ago.Its near lenehans hardware store,on the left as you go towards the liffey, past the 3 charity shops. It looks waterproof ,stylish looking. It can be carried over the shoulder, or worn as a backpack.I thinks its a german shop, sells german food, and all kinds of things ,like a large 2euro shop.Sells almost anything from hardware to sweets.

I think I'm going to go with this idea.. I have a good few rucksacks and I can get a crumpler sleeve on ebay for around 30 quid. Just out of interest, where would I buy a crumpler sleeve in Dublin? I might be heading up for a shopping trip soon.

Saw some nice leather laptop bags in TK MAXX off and on since christmas. Doen from 200 - 260 to 60 - 80 euro.

Might be a bit dear when compared to others but a comparable proce to the dell but far better quality.
