    hi all, im gonna order my new pc in the morning.

    anyway just a quick question.

    which is better:

    - a 10,000 rpm 150 gb and a 500gb 7,200 rpm
    or
    - two 320gb 7,200 rpm disks in raid 0 configuration

    also what exactly are the pros and cons of raid?

    thanks in advance

    go for the raptor its better for gaming.

    The Raptor 150 is the fastest SATA HD though RAID 0 arrays of good drives will often equal or surpass it in some scenarios.

    If you want a fast HD without messing with RAID go for the Raptor though it's storage space is not as ample as other drives but you can make up for that with a bigger capacity slower HD acting as storage/backup.

    As for the pros & con's of RAID well basically there are really only one of each;
    Easy way to increase performance & storage space.
    Increased risk if one drive dies then you lose all the data on the array.

    There are of course other types of RAID arrays that can be built with different properties to RAID 0.

    This is what I would go with;

    If not going RAID 0:
    Raptor 150 as primary HD
    Samsung Spinpoint 250GB or 320GB HD as storage/backup.

    If going RAID 0:
    Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB
    Samsung Spinpoint 400GB HD for storage/backup.
