Please can anyone advise where might be the best place to attend a beginners photography course? Probably just a ten week one or so to begin with.
Any suggestions or advice greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

Join your local camera club instead. It will be more beneficial (probably).

A number of VEC colleges in Dublin do night courses. You might like to check them out. They have a website where you can check courses on offer.

I was given a good camera (cannon wtih lots of lens etc) but I am a complete beginner. I want to learn as much as i can about using the camera before i go out and use it..
The Dublin Camera Club? Are they the best?
Or some of the ten week courses with the colleges might be ok.. but i'm just wondering if the teachers there would be better than dub cam club.. if you know what i mean.

You'd learn more going out and trying everything and anything.

Its not a digital camera though. I've been given it to practise with a view to upgrading to digital in the future.. I might be a bit out of place in a digital course..

Apologies, must drink less on New Year's in future:)

When it comes to film the Gallery of Photography is your only man. They're running a B&W Film Photography course for beginners (includes absolute beginners to the camera as well) starting in January.

You can find more details here: http://www.irish-photography.com/courses/intro.html

    Enjoy!

If the above do not suit have a look at
    Dublin Camera Club
    http://www.dublincameraclub.ie/facilities/beginnersCourse.jsp

First class January 31st the course runs for a total of 10 weeks covering just about everything.

If your interested you can drop down any Tuesday to the club nights at 8pm and ask questions etc.. It's also worth noting that if you join the club you will get use of 2 dark rooms (Big and small) and a kitted out studio.

    Dublin Camera Club
    10 Lower Camden Street
    Dublin City Center
    .

Based on this thread it seems that joining a club is the way to go.

Is anyone here a member of Bray CC? Would be interested in joining as it seems to be the closest to me, but am terrible at going along to things on my own! It might be helpful if a fellow boardsie is a member...
