UK EPG in Ireland

    Hi,
I live in meath and I have MCE 2005 installed and tv working and everything. However, I'm having a problem getting the epg for both the 4 irish channels and the 4 english channels at the same time. When tuning in the channels during setup, I have to put in Meath or Dublin or somewhere in the south as my location so that i can tune the channels. But as a result of this, when i'm setting up the epg for all 8 channels I receive (irish and english), I can only pick from the 4 irish epgs. I'm sure people have come accross this before and might have a solution. I've searched but cant find anything. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I don't think you can mix & match the EPG exactly like that though make sure you have downloaded all the updates from Windows Update to get the latest EPG data maybe it does I couldn't say...

Is the unmapped analogue terrestrial option available to you as that would allow you to pick & choose channels for your own custom EPG but I do not know if that option is present in over the air tuning wizards.

    Thanks for your reply.
My tv signal is coming down from the aerial on the roof. By choosing my signal to be antenna, and setting my location to Dublin, the only option I get is "unmapped analogue terrestrial". But when I attempt to assign programming guides for each station I have saved, I only get to choose from the 4 irish epgs. Surely somebody else has come across this? Oh, I have all the updates aswell....thanks again...

Well you could try asking over at The Green Button whenever their site comes back on line but I think the issue is a regional one.

I think Microsoft are just following the standards set down by the country so even though you can receive the UK channels with your region set to Ireland you will not get an EPG for those channels only for official channels of that region.

You could try setting it to somewhere in the North of Ireland and see what is available as EPG data.

    I saw this mentioned elsewhere but do not know if it will apply in your case;
To manually add the channels to guide (or vice versa)

    Goto Tasks/Settings/TV/Guide

    Click Add Listings to Channel

Go through and add the listing to the channel.

That's as much as I can think hopefully someone else may know of a solution.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, TGB seems to be down for ages. I've been trying it all week!
I tried setting up the tv choosing somewhere up north last week, but it didn't work. I can't remember exactly what happened, but it was either that I could only get the uk epg and not the irish one (oposite to my problem), or else that it just couldn't tune in the stations. Maybe the frequencies are slightly different or something. I can't remember exactly though. I'll try again when I get home.

I've tried this also, but only get the irish epgs to choose from.

    Thanks again!

Afaik your best choice would be to use the smartguide hack we all used before MS put up the irish EPG's.

Basically you make sure that MCE doesnt update the guide by setting to unmapped, and have to enter the frequencies yourself, and then set up the listings by selecting an XML listings provider

There's a fairly lengthy thread about it here somewhere. Its fairly involved but you only have to do it once.

TGB also has the howto - if its back up.

    Here it is
