Can't Burn DVDs

    Could u please help this self confessed tech dummy.:o I have a laptop with a

    MAT****A UJDA760 DVD/CDRW

    which I presumed was a DVD/CD rewriter.
    Problemo, I have tried on several occasions to burn DVDs to no avail..It won't recognise any of the discs!
    In particlar I am trying to burn a PICME DVD which is a kids DVD were you can personalise the movie for your child and then play it back on your DVD player. I have Cyberlink software...but I don't know what I am doing wrong, it ain't workin' and my head is explodin'. Please help me!:(
