Wireless streaming from Dreambox?

I was playing around with the stream from my Dreambox to a pc using a crossover cable and was well impressed with the quality in VLC, it's pretty much exactly as it would be watching using my hardware DVB-S card.

I'd like to get a wireless router and use that to stream to another PC upstairs (in a room directly above this pc).
Not sure if this is the right place to put it, but has anyone tried this and would a standard 802.11g router be sufficient to do the job ?

    Ahh, perfect :)

Hopefully going through a wooden floor/ceiling to the room above won't degrade the signal too much, have you tried that with your set-up kaisersose77?

I was thinking of doing something similar with 220volt ethernet plugs, has anyone ever tried this? what speed ethernet would i need for this ?

I'd need this as the main ethernet connection between the Dreambox and a PC for mail/rss/recording etc

I see Maplin have a 15mb and an 85mb version of the plug, would these be sufficent or would I need to go wireless?

Either way would be better than ripping up floor boards to bury cat5, and then I might want to place the Dreambox or PC in another location and have to start all over again.

won't be a problem.. the signal goes though the 4 foot walls in my house without an issue... I used the wireless setup for aiming the singal in the garden..

My wireless setup isnt working all that well. Constant stuttering of received picture. I have read similar experiences from others on a couple of sat boards.

As regards the ethernet plugs, I think this is the way to go (but only with the 85MB version). On the downside, they are a bit on the expensive side - i'm hoping the price drops over the next year. Have read of positive feedback from folks using these as part of their dreambox setups..

My wireless streaming works fine now but I found that stuttering can occur if (1) you are recording at the same time on the DB or (2) your wireless AP/router has some supposed 22M (instead of 11) "enhancement" - disable that if so.

anyone who uses a 500s for streaming, it has a streaming bug and even though dream multimedia know about it, they have no intention of fixing it.

Not knocking what you are saying kaisersose77 but wonder if many of these DM500 owners have bought cheap chinese knockoffs like posted here - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055038121

I dont own a DM500 but can say with 100% certainty my 7020 doesnt do this unless I try it on my old P3 900 , and even with a crossover cable it isnt fluid, but its perfect on the newer Athlon system
