We all know Chorus/NTL/UPC are going to introduce a PVR similar to Sky+ and for as long as I can remember we have speculating on these boards about it...
Well I have just found this on the UPC.nl site:

Its a sweet looking box and I hope they launch it here soon...How much longer do you think it will take them??

    Wonder if it's HD compatible?

I Google'd UPC MediaBox & the second link was to a quick setup PDF in English for a similar device if it is the same model then it does not support HD as the box only has two scart outputs.

However the link says Thomson so I assume that referrers to the STB maker. There is a reference to UPC joining forces with Philips to introduce a HD Mediabox in 2006.

A dutch news item here from machine translation seems to imply that during the world cup customers were angry with the HDTV link being less than reliable (I think) so it seems it was deployed.

Found the UPC HDTV site and it is definitely a different box to the one to the UPC DVR in the first post, it's flash so I cant link to it but click on the "Wat heb ik nodig" link and you will see a silver STB. I think this is the corresponding model on Philips site it looks an awful lot like it.
