Shows that defiantly should not have been cancelled

    My list of the fallen:

American Gothic - Buck with a B, but "Oh F*ck" said me when it got cancelled. Great lead with Gary Cole.

Arrested Development - Still too bitter to talk about this.

Brimstone - Good potential there. Not quite sure if it fully realized itself during the course of the show but liked the concept and wanted to see more.

Carnivale - Changes in pace in S2 couldn't save this epic good versus evil showdown. Some beautiful moments. Sigh.

Crusade - Gary Cole again! So the show itself wasn't amazing but the potential it had with the storylines that JMS revealed for it make me so sad.

Dark Skies - Great idea for a show and it was surprisingly well executed, with some interesting twists. A better planned version of alien mythology than the X-Files ever achieved. And it got axed naturally..

Farscape - Obvious innit? Least it got a wrapup mini series though.

Firefly - Obvious innit? Least it got a wrapup movie though.

Millennium - Disagree with Karl on this. S3 wasn't as strong maybe as the previous seasons but I still really liked it. Amazing stuff like "Saturn Dreaming of Mercury" still there. One I'm still cut up about ending years on.

Nowhere Man - I really wanted to know who Tom Veil was (okay, he was
Gemini[/i] but that's only a small bit of the story). The ultimate conspiracy show.

Odyssey 5 - Christopher Gorham featuring in a show here for the second time! Something about it created the most memorable bunch of characters in sci-fi in recent years. Sometimes the mystery seemed a little bit off but Peter Weller et co always carried the show on. Died way too early.

Popular - Fell down a little in the second season but a great teen show that gave the two fingers to the others. Nice to see others noticed it too. It's winging its way to me on DVD.

Space: Above & Beyond - Semper Fi, no alas. A neat concept and the first sci-fi war series that I'm aware of. Corny as hell at times but great spirit and a cracking slaughterhouse of a finale that never got resolved.

Stargate: SG-1 - Admittedly, it's getting further movies but I think the shakeup in S9 would've enabled it to go many years. Still 10 seasons is better than nearly everyone else...

Total Recall: 2070 - Aka 'Bladerunner: 2070'. OK so it wasn't always good but something about it made me feel it had the potential to explore interesting areas about AI. Another doomed project for Michael Easton.

Twin Peaks - "Where's Annie. Where's Annie" ARGH! Frustating as f*ck ending. So much Lynchian potential there. Garmonbozia!

VR.5 - Anyone else remember this? Mixing virtual reality technology and the human mind, it was very creative. The hints we got of VR6 and VR7 in the show make it all the more damned annoying that it ended early. Michael Easton starred in this one, also making another appearance on my list.

Huh? It was conceived as a mini-series. The mini-series was shown with room for
perhaps a full series, not yet decided. No cancellation.

Anybody ever catch Andy Richter Controls the Universe, it was on TV3 and Paramount at like 2am for a while. It was an absolute gem of a show and I cannot understand how it was cancelled, funnier than anything that is presently out there.

Oz came to a conclusion, the story wound up and IMO (as a fan) I think it had run it's course, like a lot of great shows. I just hate to see something cut short when it seems to have a lot more to give...

Have to disagree. I'm a huge fan of V but I have to say it should never even have been picked up as a series in the first place let alone never cancelled. The 1984 19-ep series was for the most part junk and 'The Final Battle' prior to this is notably weaker than the original mini-series.

Hopefully Kenneth Johnson will be able to get his new series of 'V' produced sometime before I die of old age and we'll finally be able to see some more of what the show was originally meant to be about.

V: The Second Generation is currently in production. It's to be a four hour mini series which Johnson has said will lead into a possible series, much like the new Battlestar Galatica.

3 pages and 48 replies in, and not one single mention of Deadwood? You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Ya, I know there's supposedly two TV movies on the way, but I'll believe it when I see it.

    As for my choices...

Deadwood(My absolute favourite show of all time. I was gutted when HBO pulled the plug)
    Firefly
    Arrested Development
    Carnivále
    Homicide: Life on the Street
    Undeclared
    Freaks and Geeks
    Sports Night
    Angel
    Brimstone
    The Tick
    My So Called Life

    Good Vs. Evil
    Brimstone
    Millennium
    Invasion
    American Gothic
    Smith
    All sucked.

They shouldn't have cancelled Space Above and Beyond or Firefly though...

The live action version of The Tick was good too...

The West Wing - brilliant and could have continued after Martin Sheen.

From my childhood does anyone remember The Quest? Two brothers in the old wild west days, one sexy one who had been brought up by Indians?

The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.

Just the right blend of Western and Sci-fi ;)

But only lasted one season in the Friday night death slot :(

    *shakes fist at Fox*

    Firefly (of course!)
    Arrested Development (pure comedy genius)
    Angel (ended before its time)
Jack & Bobby (one of the most intelligently written dramas ever)
    Wonderfalls (nobody mentioned this yet!!)
Grosse Pointe (brilliant Darren Star comedy which was on the WB for a season)
    Popular (great guilty pleasure)

I'm sure there are more I can't think of!

Or at the very least give it a proper name like "Win money just for standing at a screen with a presenter".

Why oh why has no one mentioned Invader Zim yet ? Two seasons of comedy gold.

    Dilbert.

Right blend? LOL. I remember discussing this series with some friends who thought it was a western until I explained about the whole time travel stuff in it and they were "wtf?". Seriously the last season took a step into the twilight zone, but then they had planned that from the first season.

Murder One, first season was class, the second season, a bit more soap opera ish, and no ted hoffman, was good, but not great, still would have liked to see another series or two
