Deadly! I do believe that's the guitar I've seen Mohammed from Necrophagist playing, didn't think they'd actually make a production model though, I thought it was only an LACS job.

Im sure youve seen this Karl

    I have not seen that.

Honestly, Ibanez is really putting out some spectacular stuff this year.

3 new 7 Strings too, it's nice to see a fixed bridge Ibanez 7 that isn't an entry level guitar, and I have to say, I love that obnoxious pink neck through RG you posted over on Jemsite. ;)

I have to say the first model there is pretty damn sweet alright, the headstock looks odd but suits it for some reason.

I can handle the look of a 7 string but an 8 string just looks really ugly.

Does Mohammed use a Stealth also karl ? I've seen him using something a lot like it, not sure if he does though.

Theres a rake of new models, but the thread would get awful long if i posted them all. Not alot interesting tbh. I'll be sticking with the J-Customs ;)

I really don't like the pearl dots on the Ibanez fretboards, I'd have to have the Sharkfin inlays

Yeah, he was a huge fan of Chuck Schuldiner, so he had a Stealth made for him. Then he signed to Ibanez, and seems to have influenced that rather Stealth-esque guitar, reversed headstock and all.

Karls seen them all already, and I dont think anyone else here likes Ibanez's, but heres a few, including one for the wife :D

The 69 guitar is a munky signature, and the green 7 too.

That second S there is a peach

About time they brought out some more K-7's. I'd be interested to try the Apex too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

I like the new Munky sigs, but tbh, I'm glad I picked up the oldschool K-7. The cancer symbol and star inlays just don't do it for me.

Out of curiosity, what's the scale lenth on the fixed bridge one?

Both munkys are called Apex for some reason. Maybe they arent munkys, tbh i dont know a bloody thing about nu-metal bands or any of that.

They are his. I think it's got something to do with the other lad leaving Korn, and that the K-7 was the signiature model of the two guitarists.

    Man that's scary,

its either a really good thing or a really bad thing... Im not sure

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

    Haha, that's fairly uncanny Al!

Speaking of V's, the new Ibanez Vs are looking fairly swish altogether.

The red/orange Ibanez there is just sexy altogether, going to keep a similiar colour in mind a few years down the line for the j custom ;)

I wouldn't mind seeing them release the blue K-7 with white hardware, that thing looks incredible!

Ah, to be honest, even if you didnt see it and forget about it, inlays in a wave pattern are nothing new, and the 69 symbol is on the mind of plenty of adolescents. Mild coincidence at best.

i think this year i may have to migrate from my ESP to ibanez :)

I'm aching for details on that greenish Apex. I've had the idea of getting a baritone 7 string for a while now, and if that just happens to be 27" I'd probably soil myself.

Korean made unfortunately. Not as good quality wise as your 1527 (or K7 obviously)

Ah I wouldn't knock Korean made stuff, they've really come on in leaps and bounds lately. I had been considering getting the LTD SC607B before getting the K-7, and that's MIK. So if Ibanez happened to come out with a baritone 7 String, even if it is MIK, I'd quite happily look into it.

We'll agree to differ on that one. The trem alone is enough to turn me off the korean stuff (though obviously doesnt apply here).

Wouldnt knock them anymore than any similar priced guitar - theyre all fairly equal. What swings it for me isnt that the koreans are bad, but that the Jap Ibanez's are so good. Fret finishing on the cheapest (jap) prestige ive seen is as good as the few PRS's ive had up close.

Ah well I'm not saying that MIK is comparible to MIJ, just that Korean stuff has become better and more consistant in the past few years.

No doubt about it that Japanese made guitars are phenominal. I remember thinking about changing the bridge pickup of my J Custom, but when I opened the control cavity, I just said to myself that I simply cannot disturb that wiring it was so immaculate. It was a work of art.

Oh yeah, the Stealth like guitar is something to do with Muhammad:
Muhammed Suicmez signs an endorsement deal with Ibanez Guitars. The cooperation involves a whole new guitar model that will see the light of day in 2007.

Yeah, sorry, i have all the model numbers and artists, but tbh i have no idea who Muhammad whatsisname is or who Necrophagist are..
(EDIT - I just checked the specs and dont see his name anywhere)

Theres another guitar that is a Matt something signature, again, without googling the name, i havent a clue who he is.

Not saying it's a signiature model or anything, just that it seems like he's had some influence in the model being introduced.

Oh, and Matt Bachand is the guitarist from Shadows Fall.

Never heard of them:cool: ( i feel like an oul fella)
The info says something about kill switch, so i figured that was the band. I guess it has an actual kill switch so :D

I don't listen to them anyway, so no bother. Necrophagist are well worth listening to, Muhammed is an absolutely incredible guitarist, some of the cleanest sweeps I've ever heard.

Anyway, so is there any info at all about the scale lenth of the fixed bridge Apex?

That 8 string looks a lot nicer than I was expecting. I'd consider getting one myself just for the **** of it. You going to get one Karl?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,706 ✭✭✭Voodu Child

I should also mention the RG 20th anniversary models. These have been floating around for a few weeks now, but here they are anyway.

Black would be the only one I'd consider there. The yellow one is fugly beyond words.

I like the red one. :)

Red one works... Are they Original Floyds on them?

The guitars are 'reissues'. I dont fully understand the logic behind them TBH - they have old style trems and neck joints. I dont even know where Ibanez got the parts - id wager they found them lying around and concieved the reissue idea around them.

    A bit daft tbh.

Ah no, im only kidding. :D

It depends on how good you are at shopping. You could pick one up for a shade under E1400 (guitarbargains), or you could pay over E1650 (ie here lol!).

Either way, its about the only time you'll see a production 8 strings ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

    Really!? :D

Edit: Oooh, you were quick there Voodoo, but not quick enough!

    *cough* what?!

My faculties are 100% at xmas time Karl :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

    Hehe, yeah, whatever. ;)

But you're right, there probably aren't going to be that many production 8 Strings out there. I know Halo guitars are working on one, which has a Kahler trem, so they'll probably have a decent cut of the market seeing as Ibanez is going for fixed bridges.

I'd say I'll be trying to snap up an Ibanez 8 though. I'd like to be able to save up for it though, rather than just going down the credit union, because they seem to give me money far too easily, but I might make an exception this time. ;)
