Only got my 360 a few weeks ago and it's one hell of a beast, but I am not familiar with all the great titles it has.

Played Gears of War, fantastic, and I'm nearly finished Splinter Cell: Double agent. The graphics are jaw dropping on these titles, even for a PC gamer/upgrade freak like me, and gameplay is impressive aswell. I haven't been this happy with a console since the Playstation.

So now that I'm nearly finished these two I want to get another, a late Christmas pressie from the mother. I'm looking for something of the same caliber, jaw dropping graphics and excellent gameplay. Preferably something with a storyline. That's kind of vague but I am open to all suggestions.

Get the original Xbox Oddworld Stranger's Wrath : Great story and better gameplay than most 360 titles (off which I havent played that many admittedly). You should be able to pick it up for 10-20 yo yos.

    Is it backwards compatable?

Ah according to the net it is not. Good point. Will shove in my copy later to check but for now disregard previous comment.
On a positive note, Psychonauts is finally backwards compatible which is my second recommendation :)

Thanks but I'd prefer games that are specifically Xbox 360. Rainbow Six vegas looks good...

    Rainbow Six is extremely good.

ghost recon (keeping with the tom clancy theme) is a nice game too and should be quite cheap now, you can get a goty edition on play for 26yoyo's http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/CART/3-/3251033/-/Product.html?cur=258

in a completely different route viva pinata is meant to be great fun, got good reviews all round http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/1015373/Viva_Pinata/Product.html

dont forgot to give demos on xboxlive ago first before buying :)

Oblivion is another one. Trying to get through GOW before I play it, but it's meant to be the best value for money around (many have racked up 200 hours+).
The Demo function as mentioned above is very handy too. Give a couple of games a whirl, see which ones appeal to you. Try the FEAR demo - scared the hell out of me.

Thanks guys, I don't have Live as the asshole screaming teenagers absolutely ruined it for me last time.

Rainbow six seems to be getting reviews that are up there with Gears Of War...I think I'll try that.

EDIT: Played Fear and Oblivion on PC, great games.

My vote would be elder scrolls oblivion, looks amazing but i havent played rainbow 6 so cant compare the two.

^Some good suggestions, but right now it's a tie between Dead Rising and Rainbow Six: Vegas. I cant decide...:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

I preferred Dead Rising out of those two, if you're not interested in multiplayer.

But I'll add in another vote for Viva Pinata.

PGR3, great game, just got a 360 for christmas and sister got me it in smyths for only 30 euro. Great game.

Only problem is I dont know where cheapest place is to get a wireless controller is, any deals?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,653 ✭✭✭steviec

There's demos of both Dead Rising and Rainbow Six on Live so you'd be best trying them, it's really a matter of taste.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

I don't think the Dead Rising demo is representative of the game though, something to bear in mind if you try it.

If you're going to get RB6, remember it's region free, so you can get it cheaper from Asia, if you don't mind waiting a bit.

I saw them for €45 in Smyths today.

I picked up a 360 today with PGR3 (€35 pre owned, probably cheaper from teh interweb) and GRAW game of the year edition. GRAW is very good, from the hour or so I've played so far. I'm still getting keyboard+mouse withdrawal though!

about the wireless controller, try xtravision. I heard they have a very good deal on wireless controllers or you get a wireless controller free with a game or something. Give it a look up

thanks shreddedloops, if anyone has any info on this that would be great.

HMV are selling it for 32 quid.

I'm going to have to disagree on Table Tennis. I liked it initially, but I really don't think it lasts very long unless you have friends you can play it with that have it aswell. Probably going to sell or trade mine because it doesn't get played at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,641 ✭✭✭zero19

I got dead rising, tiger woods and test drive unlimited in a bargin bin harvey normans for €40, not bad at all considering 360 game prices!! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭shortys94

How does the table tennos two player work? I mean is it doubles, as it would seem confusing if it was one table with the second player at the other end, or is it split screen?

Also, anyon have info on the price of the controller deals in xtravision

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 438 ✭✭speedfreak

Also like Dead Rising / GOW. Enjoyed Splinter Cell and yeah it looks good but thought it was too easy and v. like the other SC games. Was surprised when I was at the end and how relatively easy it was to finish it.
