Newbie C&C Wanted..

hey all
Relatively newbie here, these are my first shots I've felt are worth putting up for C&C... Let me know your thoughts..
Went for a walk in the woods nearby and heres the results

I'm not familiar with the camera at all so how can you let me know maybe how much control you had over taking the photograph - ie did you use manual settings?

To be honest i am only learning the very basics of how to use it so it was just the normal settings, I havent graduated to manual settings just yet!
As far as I know it was taken with portrait, or the shoot twilight with no flash..

I know the feeling. I'm looking today at photographs I took in Australia six months with what was then a brand new camera, on fully automatic for a while.

Experimentation is your friend - I used to take a couple of versions of every photograph for a while - one fully automatic, and one messing around with the settings against what the camera was doing on automatic.

Anyway, the photos are really nice so it's a good start.

thanks all its fantastic to get some good feedback!!! Definitely got an interest now so its just trying to learn what i can..
Flickr seems good, thanks for adding as contacts..
Havent done anything to them as not too savvy on photoshop..

Not bad at all - they look better than someone just starting!

Watch for the rule of thirds. You did it perfect in DSC01258, as the grassline is about 1/3 up the shot. Loads of interest in the sky/trees, so it works well. in dsc01236, the foreground is boring, and the sky looks super, so it would have been better if you pointed the camera a little more skywards, putting the horizon about 1/3 of the way up, instead of 1/2 the way up.

Keep shooting and posting. Look up sites like www.photo.net etc that have pretty basic tutorials that might help too. Looking forward to seeing more

I am very happy with all the comments guys.. Took few more yday but havent had chance to check em out yet..

@fenster, nope its in tipp.. Portumna is nice tho, might give a half day in forest park taking some pics..

'tis many a year since I've been to Coole Park, I thought it was Renville as the path and fencing were identical to the entrace to the forest there.
