Rite this is a close one. Ive owned every nintendo console apart from the nes, but I must say that the cube was my favourite. It was such an underrated machine but it had its fair share of classics for example zelda ww and tp, metroid prime 1+2, smash bros, all the resi evils especiially 4 and many more.

    What does eveyone else think?

Every thread on this board is about the Wii and you have to ask which one is the best? :P

Ah but that is because its the latest console. That doesnt mean its the best.

I'd have to go for the Cube, followed by the SNES, followed by the DS, followed by the Wii...
Cube had some incredible Ninty titles, along with the likes of Resi 4 as mentioned above.
The DS and the Wii are still too early in their life cycles to compare them against the older consoles imo... they've still got a lot to prove (especially the Wii, which would be worthless without Zelda)

Though at one stage or another (due to my brothers obsession with Nintendo) we've had almost every console, we don't have the Wii yet. I'm probably biased towards newer models, as I'm too young to remeber the older ones but I still say the N64 is the best. We have a Gamecube but I'm surprised a couple of people have said it's their favourite. There's nothing wrong with it, I suppose - I just didn't think it was special. The N64 had great games what with Zelda, James Bond (Goldeneye - amazing!) etc.

    snes for home console

and the original gameboy for handheld.

N64, but I grew up on it so I'm biased.

i owned all the home consoles bar the snes
but my fave is the N64 as i grew up with it
    ah the memories of goldeneye

cube was also great though have had so much fun with it over the years

had a nes but its really not from my era loved the old bit of super mario though

and im loving my wii atm and im fairly sure that will last

as for handhelds have a gbc and a ds
only really played pokemon (alot) on the gbc as for the ds i could play it a lot more but concentrating on the wii much more

anyways as i said its the N64 for me

definelately the SNES. so many good games.

    mario all stars
    mario kart
    link to the past
    iss deluxe
    killer instinct
    street fighter II
    donkey kong country

then you had countless rpg's aswell.

after that it would be the N64 for...

    goldeneye
    ocarina of time.

N64 for me but I can see the wii becoming my favourite as more games come along and as more n64 titles come to the virtual console (diidy kong racing and goldeneye please!).

Never played much cube tho so dont know about that one.

It's far too early to count the wii in all this but I'd have to say it's a toss up between the cube and the ds for me. The ds is still getting my attention after all this time and the cube is never plugged out from the back of my tv.... although now that I have a wii it might get shelved.

N64 follows those closely - again so many good games

    Probably the DS Lite.

I've owned the NES, N64, Cube, DS and Wii, and I played the SNES and Gameboy a lot in friends houses back in the day. NES and SNES were both fantastic - they were just the be all and end all of gaming in their time. Never really got into the N64. For some reason the games of that generation (N64/PS1) just never appealed to me and I started getting into PC gaming instead.

The Cube suited me perfectly. The graphics were considerably better than what my PC could output at the time (unlike the N64 when it came out) and the controller was just superb (unlike, imo, the N64). It also had some great games and the fact they were spaced out and not so numourus (compared to PS2/XBox) suited the limited time I had to dedicate to gaming perfectly.

But the DS.. I've never been so impressed with a game system. There seems to be something for every mood on there - and when you include the GBA library, there seems no end to the list of games worth having. Not to mention the sexeh style of the DS Lite, the beautifully simple no-fuss interface and the Internet stuff.. quite a package.

Too early to tell for the Wii. So far I'm very impressed with everything but the games available (there's a couple of great ones.. but nothing yet that convinces me they're getting the most out of the system). Hopefully it'll find it's groove much like the DS and we'll start to see some truly great and original games, it certainly has that potential.

Either the cube or the snes, from what ive played of the wii im impressed but its too early to judge yet cause theres not enough games out for it and i only got the chance to play my friends.

For those of you who said the N64 what are you on crack?? actually now that i think of it, it did have zelda, mario, banjo kazooie, perfect dark, goldeneye and i think thats about it.Ok actually yea i acumulated many hours playing those games so disregard the crack smoking comment.

its the snes for me, legendary games like link to the past, mortal kombat 2, donkey kong country, mario allstars, bubsy the bobcat, earthworm jim....the list goes on and on.
on a seperate note i noticed nobody mentioned the virtual boy as their favourite console, it was pants!

For people who are saying the cube is better but also have a wii - shouldn't the wii now be your greatest console ever...because it is a cube! with a wii attached? or are you saying cube for nostalgia reasons?

Gameboy, hands down. Best console ever TBH

Snes for me. It's a fabulous console. Almost everything about it was excellent, the amount of colours it could display, mode 7 and transparencies and of course the fabulous Sony DSP soundchip that produced some wonderful music. It did have 2 problems, one being that the main processor clock speed was awful meaning there was a lot of slowdown in some games and multi segmented bosses as seen in many megadrive games were hard to pull off (The clock speed was almost half the speed as the mega drive and practically the same as the master system). The other one is that because of the increased colour palette sprites took up more memory on the Snes meaning bigger more expensive cartridges had to be used. It was for me the pinnacle of 2D gaming with some of the best games ever made on it.

Next would be the Gameboy Advance. It was a powerhouse of a 2D machine and there are an amazing number of classics available on it.

The NES for me, ahh the memories.......

I reckon I've gotten more enjoyment out of the DS than any other. The N64 is close behind.

Still have them all and play them from time to time, probably knocked more fun out of the N64 than anything else, from Diddy Kong Racing, Blastcore and Jet Force Genimi to Mario 64 and 1080 Snowboarding it ruled.
Sucked for racing games though, aside from Beetle Adventure Racing, quite like that!

That's because there was hardly any 3rd party support for the majority of its lifespan otherwise the ratio would be about equal.

There are great games on all systems in fairness, hence I always end up buying them all :D
