Do you connect your Sky box to your TV by Scart cable or RF?

Yes I do connect via scart and yes it is a philips
I don't think it's the TV as I can play DVD's on it, or could I be wrong in thinking that because I can play DVD's that the TV is ok??

Just connect by RF until you figure out why the scart connection is causing this.

Have you tried swapping scart leads BTW?

Philips televisions that use an A10E chassis (check sticker on back of cabinet) contain an ic chip commonly called the "painter chip" that will do all sorts of strange things with av connections. Eg, switch to standby, switch av inputs, loss of sound, loss of remote action are among many wierd things that can happen, Bad news, up to 200euro to replace chip, yes 200 euro. Do a search on "philips television painter chip faulty" or "philips television ic 7064 faulty". You will be ok using rf or try swapping av input in the meantime however chip will eventually deterioate.
