Just watched the christmas special of batchelors walk and I must say, it was done very well. The story was brief but effective and there was enough jokes in it to keep the audience amused

I wanted to watch it but kept getting distracted by visitors so only saw bits and pieces. Hopefully they'll repeat it soon.

Does anyone know what the DVD status of series 2 is? It was never released AFAIK.

yeah thought it was quite good although I thought it could have done with an extra half an hour as it looked like some of the back stories seemed to be cut out to fit it into the 1 hour. Its a pity they couldn't continue it on into a series three as it was interesting to see how the 3 of their lives hadn't really moved on now that they had reached their mid-30's.

I missed it also, surely someone has torrented it, if CrappynaScully can get one, Bachelors Walk should have one.

    Desperate here.

I'm sorry to say that it just didn't live up to expectations. It tried to do too much in the 50 odd minutes and ended up giving us a pastiche of the real thing. The humour was largely slapstick and it was in too much of a hurry to pause and allow us to care for any of the characters' fates. All was explained when the credits rolled -- instead of the original 3 writers (who each took responsibility for a character) this special was written by john Carney alone. In other words, calling this Batchelors Walk is a bit like billing Paul McCartney as the Beatles...

Raging I missed it, I was totally engrossed in the darts. :(

    Nope, 3 ;)

:confused::confused: There were already 3 series of Bachelors Walk.

Series 1 was really good, series 2 was meh and series 3 was pretty pants.

Enjoyed it, and the show as a whole.

It was good, but could have easily been 2 hours instead of one. Why hasn't series 2 and 3 been out on DVD? Also why was it never shown on BBC since they paid for it?

The Christmas show was really great, loved seeing the boys back in town.
I’ve heard it was the last one, but I really hope there’s another down the line at some stage.

Also why was it never shown on BBC since they paid for it?

BBC only co-financed the 1st series and it was very unpopular with them. They made a different ending for the first series. The three boys were crying in the house on RTE, but on BBC while they were crying Allison showed up at the door and she and Raymond lived happily ever after. Then they never wanted anything more to do with it. The 2nd and 3rd series were made on very low budgets.

Saw the repeat and thought it was well worth doing. "What the f**k am I going to do in Spain?" was definitely the highlight. :)

Thought it was alright, but was annoyed that they ended up in Rathfarnham Church while pretending it was near Bray. But that's just me.

Rathfarnham Church? I thought it was the one in Shankill ?

Anyone have a link for the Series 1 DVD ? Thanks :)

Definitely Rathfarnham Church. 'Tis opposite the Yellow House, and the camera was aimed so you wouldn't see it as they left the grounds :)
