External HD via USB not being detected by PC

    Folks,
I would love to hear from someone who could help me resolve this.

I just removed my old notebook HDD and put it into an external casing and connected it to my PC via USB2.0. This was working absolutely fine for a week.

My problem now is that I have used Paragon Partition Mgr to reformat this external drive (to clean it up entirely). Problem is that My Computer does not detect this HD now. I have checked under Devices Mgr and the Hardware Mgr and the USB connection is being 'detected' fine - says that this hardware is working correctly. One of the things i have noticed is this external drive is not being allocated a name (like E:, I:, G: etc). could this be part of the problem?

Within the Partition mgr tool the drive is detected fine (correctly reporting size of HD etc), but no drive name is showing up.

    I am running XP SP2.

I have attached a screen shot. Many thanks in advance, DM

try using xp's own hd partition/management tools.... right click on my computer and press manage, click disk management under the storage tab. You should see the drive there. Try right clicking and press change driver letter and paths.
Or try deleting the partion made with tht paragon software and make a new one with the windows software.
