Wow the carousel shot came out well... looks almost HDR'ish.

Really, really like the carousel shot, the sky is fantastic.. probably a really stupid question... Is it a HDR?

and the portrait of the dude is deadly, his stubble is so stubbley and the hint of brown in his eyes is perfect!

    Great work al .

    Thanks all. :)

Nope, it ain't a HDR, I didn't have a tripod with me, otherwise it most certinally would be! It was taken with a polariser, exposing for the carousel

Great stuff Al as usual. Lovely mix and the exposure and compd of the carousel shot is excellent. Must have a gawk at the bigger size.

Thanks. Bloody wish I had rolled the f/ up to 4.5 for it... Bah... :p

Zillah...I'd be going with plastic pony...isn't there some height restriction on horses these days? :p

Good work mate ... I had a look through the set you posted in flickr ... not easy to pick a favorite ...

The railway station is excellent ... as is the carroussel above ... you'll have to teach me a few tricks :p

great shots al. The one that interests me the most is the portrait. People make the most interesting subjects. Can I ask you - how did you go about getting this ? Did you just walk up to the guy and ask his permission to take his picture or what ?

I'd love to take more portraits, but I've no idea on how to go about getting them.

Maybe a good subject for s sticky.

Excellent shots Al, you seem to be enjoying that 5D... I wonder why... :D Maybe a bit too much vignetting for my liking on that Eiffel Tower shot, but the color of the sky is very well done. Gotta love polarisers... :)

Yep, I asked him if I could take it... We were walking around the Pompado centre, and my friend Brioni dissapeared, turned out she was being charicacturised..cha...you know what I mean - by him. We were just having a bit of a laugh, and I just asked "any chance I could take your photograph" in the most cheesy way possible... Works a treat! :)

Dimy...The vignetting pee'd me off no end, I just had to try use it! I really need a wide angle with no vignetting.

Al ,I could give you a loan of the 24-85 lens I have .
At 24 it's fairly wide ,not wide enough on my 350D and I don't use my 50E .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

    Thanks Sinecurea. :)

24 is plenty wide on the 5d...but I wouldn't trust myself with someone elses lens. I get my money's worth outa them! ;)
