I have 4discs and a recovery disc for my NEC i-Select M5610i, but no actual idea what i do with them. :/ I unwittingly made a partition of my harddrive when i installed Linux, so its 40gigs for windows and 12gigs for linux..

The recovery discs are looking for a 55gig hd, which i would have if i could merge the two partitions together, but alas that isnt possible as the 40gig is corrupted.. Can I just formatt them both and hope for the best? I dont even know how the fupp the installation disc process is meant to work.. Damn modern day lack of instruction books.

How can you install Linux yet not know how to reinstall windows? I do not get it.
Now any recovery disk i have ever seen/used will give you the option of deleting all partitions and installing fresh, never used NEC so i cant say for certain. Since you obviously have internet access then you can get instructions from the NEC website or there is usually instructions on one of the cd's in PDF format. No one gives paper manuals anymore.

Linux was rather easy to install, it prompted me with options and settings, the NEC recovery process is bizare. I put in the discs 1 to 4 and nothing happens. I put in the "Recovery" disc and its just asking me to back up the HD or create a ghost of the HD..

They're website is incredibly difficult to navigate around, they dont seem to have any publicly available support for my laptop on the website, they dont show any existance of it, despite the fact that they market the same laptop as NEC and as Packard Bell.. they make the same laptop just with a different title rather strange. I'll just call up and ask for help tomorrow, i have a 3 year "ULTRA CARE" warrenty thing from them.. which is quite cool
