Buzzing noise from pickups ?

So I got my Pod xt today (:D) hooked it up to the pc and started fidling around. I noticed an annoying buzzing sound when ever I stop playing, I can still kinda hear it in the back ground while playing and it makes everything sound worse than it already does ;) When I ever I switch positions on the pickup to the neck pickup the buzzing gets louder in one or two postions and whenever I switch back to the neck it's lower, is this normal for pickups to buzz this loud ? Or is there something dodgy with the wiring

Using a humbucker and two single coils btw.

If you've got it hooked into the PC and an amp at the same time, this can create a ground loop, and result in a nasty buzz.

Nah it's just hooked straight into my pc, just saying when I've used the amp (not with the pod) it does the same thing.

Could be interference from your moniter or some other device , happens me too sometimes.

yeah if it's a crt monitor that's probably the culprit. I have to switch mine off any time i'm recording...that's why i'm on the lookout for a TFT

I'm actually using a TFT atm. I'll try switching it off when messing around and see if thats the problem.

Is everything (ie PC, monitor, pod etc) plugged into the same power outlet, a plugboard perhaps?

If your guitar has active pickups it could be the battery that needs changing. If they aren't active ignore this advice obviously!

Aye they are actually, everything into the one adapter. That cause problems ?
