Kauto Star should be shorter than what he is, but Racing Demon is my each way bet.

I can't see past Kauto Star, but I too was hoping for a better price, so It's a no-bet race for me. Still looking forward to watching it though.

    Exotic Dancer E/W

I have to put a euro e/w on Ballycassidy too

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭knighted_1

could be a surprise in this race -i too will be having 50 cent e/w on ballycassidy-but seriously i think this race will catch the fav out -i wasnt too impressed by his jumping -i might be in the minority here but i would lay kauto at that price -will know more on tuesday i suppose

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭knighted_1

i will be backing monkerhostin at 14s-the forgotten horse

    http://www.racingpost.co.uk/horses/racing_horse_form.sd?horse_id=530722&race_id=419451

second to kicking king last year -reading thru the form he is ideally suited to this trip but has won at shorter including when beating kauto star over 2m1f

any way look it up i think this represents value

I'm sorry but I don't mean to come across as pedantic or anything.... but IMO I didn't see anything wrong with Kauto's jumping last time out. I certainly would not be laying it at the price it is. I'd easily back something else before I'd lay Kauto.

what do you mean you think this race will catch the fav out??

how the hell can he be caught out, hes the best horse in training by a mile

his jumping this season has been very good

while i think all kauto star has to do is stay up to win after his last two efforts

you can get monets at 7's on betfair and

if its one of those days where everything goes wrong for the market leaders
i'm having a bit of commercial flyer at 59/1 i dunno maybe kempton will suit ham a lot better than the last few trips to cheltenham

have a prosperous stephens day and new year and fill your sacks with bookies cash

Betting is suspended on betfair. *shakes fist*

thats if you go through the ante post menu, i think the market is now non runner no bet

call up gb racing and you should get the 26th dec option
    then kempton and you're in

think the fav is one to beat, if you dont like the price try doubling up with another bet (i done kauro with phil taylor for the pdc for example!)

K S will have to brush up on his jumping or he'll end up on the floor (like his last visit) to the festival.

you must watch different races than me because kauto has always been a sketchy jumper and to day showed that to everyone he got away with it cause they are soft fences and the fact that he met a lot of them on the wrong stride didnt help -wouldnt get away with that jumping at punchestown -anyway i do agree that he is a class horse and thats what got him thru today

his jumping in the betfair chase was spot on, in the tingle creek it was good as well, he missed a couple yesterday alright but ruby reckons he'll jump better when hes back on a left handed track.

Kauto was different class to this field & won well. His jumping doesn't inspire confidence though & i doubt he will get away with the mistakes he made here at Cheltenham.

I will definetly be taking him on in the Gold Cup due to his jumping, his short price, the extra distance & the hill and he will be taking on the best chasers at their peak.

I don't get why this horse has such a high rating TBH
Best Mate wins 3 Gold Cups & a King George but is rated inferior
Kicking King (a horse i'm not a fan of TBH) wins a Gold Cup & 2 King Georges and is rated inferior.

On what Kauto has actually achieved to this point his rating is a joke!

Monets Garden was a huge disapointment. Was beaten a long way out before the distance became a factor, guess he simply isn't as good as i thought he was.

Kauto Star has won 2 Tingle Creeks, a Betfair Chase and a King George and has hacked up in all 3 this season. it all depends on the quality of the field, winning distance and how easy the horse wins, not whether its a Gold Cup or not.

Monets Garden was an overated pig who had done nothing, got found out big time, a handicap chase career beckons....

i totally agree that he is a class horse but he is no where near best mate -the nearest i would compare him to is beef or salmon -harsh i know but like beefy he hasnt proved himself over proper stiff fences or the blistering gallop they go at cheltenham-like when he fell at the third in the champion chase on his only apperance in cheltenham last march -i would call that sketchy jumping-yesterday effort in the king george was sketchy jumping blessed he stayed on his feet ruby didnt present him to the last correctly and ploughed thru a soft fence -there is not much give in a cheltenham fence and if that happens again he wont get away with it he will be ars e over head like the champion chase last march -i have seen dodgy jumpers thru the years win top class races on pure class and kauto has class in abundance-but ask urself this -if u were a pro gambler staking 30 grand would u feel comforable backing this horse for a gold cup at 2/1 -my honest answer is no

if u read thru his form he fell in weatherby in a three horse race {stiff fences}when he clipped the top of the second last fence ruby remounted him and came second
so in nine chases he fell twice and only clar round of jumping came at haydock

also fell over hurdles in france

so i hope u can see i am in no way dissing this horse i am purely trying to show the best animals have flaws and i think his jumping under pressure is his flaw this is the reason he will never carry my money

i am one of those people who often think that the winner of a race is not nessicarily the best horse in the race -

beef or salmon? i forgot tht kauto star cant run in england? kauto star is not a dodgy jumper, the horse made a couple of bad mistakes (one was caused by a pot hole aswell) and look at tingle creek every jump the horse made it kept moving up a place and ruby had to hold him back. this horse par injury will be one of the gr8s im sure but i cant compare the horse to any at the moment as i has not won at cheltenham festival which will show a lot about a horse. i think kauto will be above best mate personally but tht will be seen i guess

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,230 ✭✭✭scojones

kauto star is not a dodgy jumper,

Ah he is. His two dodgy jumps were caused by him jumping too soon, hole or not. Will have to improve his jumping to win at Cheltenham. If he jumps he wins, simple as.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 870 ✭✭✭knighted_1

i agree with that sjones if they can sort his jumping out he wins but he will have to deal with woa -

best mate to my knowledge never put a foot wrong that was true class

never been a fan of kicking king but was a joy to watch always thought he had the wrong jockey on board but that was just a personal thing

beef or salmon another joy to watch but never carried my money 10 grade 1 wins i think but just lacks that extra bit of class to handle the pace of cheltenham

florida pearl there was a horse

kauto star's form this year has some holes in it, but to me the only horse that could be classed his equal in the last decade is Moscow Flyer. If Best Mate was given a chance to prove how good he was, then I could understand his fans' argument. Truckers Tavern and Sir Rembrandt (second in two of Best Mates gold cups, gamely plugged on to challenge for the places in the Roland Meyrick at Wetherby over the christmas.)

bold statement considering tht war of attrition was within 1 second of the course record last yr. however i was wrong by using the word 'dodgy'. i should have said not a bad jumper. one of his gr8 assets is his mometum caused from a jump. if they can and ur of course quite right remove the dodgyness than kauto would be a gr8 jumper (in my opinion;) )
