I was on NTL basic tv package and 4 mb broadband , cost about 49 for 2 months .
Got my new bill in, where it said rates were going up, but i'm now being billed for 93 euros for 2 months -- 43 for TV , and 50 for broadband -- is this an error !! or do costs double after 12 months, if so, tv package is going !

Not sure about their costs, but can you have their BB without their TV service? I don't think you can.

You need a minimum analogue TV package. If /when they drop analogue (each analogur channel = 1000 BB users or 10 Digital channels is an incentive), then you will get BB on its own.

when you say you got BB and TV for €50 is that the special offer where you get free TV for the year? your bill looks like they are charging 50 for bb and 43 for two months of TV which is the correct price.
I just got my bill yesterday and they charged me for my free TV, so that could be the problem.

Thats what i'm querying, i have contacted NTL , they wont let me know until after Christmas -- i signed up last year for a year so maybe it is a special, but i'm not paying 93 every 2 months for this service -- barely watch tv as it is , and i'm sure i can get a better deal on broadband than 50 euros every 2 months , for 4 MB BB, that is of questionable quality !

    NTL don't do 4 Megs. It's 1,2,3 or 6. 50 for broadband sounds like you're on 2 Megs (2 months x 24.99).

I'm on the "starter" which says its 2 MB, although someone from ntl phoned me a couple of months ago to say they were doubling this .
Strange, for the same money you can get "broadband" package , and this is 3 MB - seams odd --
anyway 93 euros bi monthly is too much for me at the mo , so will need to switch from this, if the price is correct !

NTL in NI = NTL:Telewest -> Virgin Media

NTL in Dublin = Doesn't exist. Sold to UPC.

UPC do everything different and have closed NTL's call centre. All calls to "NTL" as was now possibly are handled by the ex-Chorus Call Centre. Chorus also bought by UPC.

im a ntl customer in belfast N.Ireland , ntl have a retentions department , and i rang them (only works if ur already a customer) and told them i was leaving as couldnt afford hem anymore , they bend over backwards to help , after much cojoling i got a deal off of them, package deal, NTL B/B , tv (basepack(middle pack)) and ph (free wekend calls) for 20pound sterling a month ....woohooooo
normally they charge 30 pound a month (but not for basepack) for package but then u only get free view chanels ... and had a few problems with them and now i get PH.,B/B and every ch except payper view sky sports and sky movies
    all for 20 pound a month (30Euro)
I knew about retentions because orange have one too , and i abuse that too , i get best deal on offer and new ph and headset(bluetoothe) and a 50 pound cash back off my next bill :p

MORAL OF THE STORY IS ...Ring NTL ask for thier RETENTIONS department and speak to them DO NOT take the first offer argue with them to beat them down and dont take NO for an answer

PS... after Xmass i'll ring them for my mum in dublin and try to get her a better deal too

Watty's right - two different entities. I suppose if you don't want the TV it might not suit you, but, like me, when you have their analogue service anyway, Broadband's extremely good value.

I also take their basic digital package (and I use Blueface for the phone), so, for just €71.50 a month I'm covered for EVERYTHING, including all my phone calls to Ireland/UK, 24/7. While it does not seem attractive compared to the NI offer, I remember a time where I was paying Eircom IR£60 per month (which equates to €152 approx two-monthly).....and that was watching my phone usage carefully.

So for me anyway, it's happy days!:D
