After I downloaded an update from windows update, every time i turn on the computer I have to choose the user profile before I windows continues loading. Since there is only one selectable profile on this machine. is there any way to skip this process?

Start->Run and enter 'control userpasswords2' in the box. Uncheck the box that says 'Users must enter a username and password to use this computer', reboot and you'll be asked for the password once more for the automatic logon.

I would assume that you leave it blank, haven't come across a situation where there was no password.

It was a recent update to the .net framework. For some reason it adds a new user and marks it as hidden. Just go into control panel>User accounts and delete it.
