Be careful with the ones in the store, they are ok for small files and streaming music, but only support something like 14mbps, which will quickly bog down if there's any sort of serious traffic on the network.

These mains networking products should be banned.

The do not meet any standard and create huge amounts of interference. The security is of unknown quality.

    Get proper approved WiFi.

Any good quality plug link adapter should and do have a software encryption feature which can be enforced.

Also the speeds available start around 10 mbps but there are certain brands that will give you speeds of 100 mbps plus consequently they are more expensive.

There are no "good quality plug link adaptors". It is the most misbegotten technology since Sinclar QX stringy disks or whatever they were.

The only reason they are not illegal is the EU is too slow to respond to mis-application of technology. These cause grief to all radio systems. The mains wiring is not designed to be used like DSL.

Since they to not adhere to any standard, you have no way of knowing how effective any encryption might be.
