Hi just looking for some advice. I want to get a dvd and the region 1 version is much better than the region 2 but I don't have a multiregion dvd player. Will the r1 dvd play on my laptop or is it easier to go get a cheap multiregion player?

    Thanks

    Storka

In any Windows computer (laptop or PC) you can change the region of the DVD player up to five times. So if you DVD drive is set to region 2, you can set it to region 1.

However, the 5th time you change the region, it stays fixed at that region, so you need to be careful. No amount of re-installing Windows will change it.

A better solution would be to use VLC player - it ignores the region coding on DVDs.

VLC is a good solution, with some DVD drives you can get a firmware update that will make it region free but if you find some, make very sure that has been tested out thoroughly first.
