    Hey folks,

Could really do with some help here. Looking to take the missus away somewhere for a short break. Things arent exactly flush at the moment, so a reasonably priced hotel would be a real bonus. Max budget €80/night.
Dates: 2 nights out of 28/29/30 Dec.

No real preference as to where we go, just somewhere nice :)

What's the kingsvalley hotel like? Has anyone stayed there?

    Thanks in advance!

On a budget kingsvalley hotel maybe ok. My impression is it's a kip though. Was at a 21st there last year and I was not impressed. Also it's a good way out of town. Not within walking distance at all.

Try some of the B&B's on College Road which are like hotels. Also try Park House which is supposed to be really nice to stay in and they have great food. On a strict budget you could try Travellodge (http://www.travelodgegalway.com/) which is closer to town than kingsvalley.

One final thing, if you have transport and close to town isn't an issue try the Claregalway hotel (http://www.claregalwayhotel.ie/ €69 per night) or Arches Hotel (http://www.thearcheshotel.ie/). Both are in Claregalway which is about 5 miles outside Galway (North of the city). Both nice hotels with good food/bar.

    Cheers for the reply!

Claregalway is booked up, as is arches hotel. Closeness to town doesnt really bother me. Dont want to stay in a kip though! It's only really a place to sleep as we'd be out most of the day and have lunch/dinner elsewhere!

What would be the chances of getting a room if we just turned up at any of those B&B's on spec? I'd reckon fairly slim...

Any suggestions for more northern towns such as Sligo as an option?

I'd say you'd be as well off to prebook the B&B. Busy time of year. Don't know Sligo tbh. Try Westwood House in Galway, Galway Bay Hotel, Park House Hotel and if your only looking for a bed Travellodge.

    www.laterooms.com

    www.ratestogo.com

Rooms are loaded onto the sites by the hotels themselves so if it says available then it is available.

    Prices are always discounted.
