Have I Induced A Bluff

0.50/1 tribeca Villain is 40/18/4 over 50 hands

    Effective stacks 85

He button raises for the umpteenth time to 4. I reraise to 15 from the BB with JJ. He calls quickly.

    Flop (31)

    A 9 9 rainbow

I decide to check. I'm thinking he folds everything I'm ahead of if I bet and he's quite aggressive postflop so he might bluff with worse hands.

    He bets 10. I call.

    Turn (51)

    3

    Check check

    River (51)

    2

    I check. He shoves.

    Call or fold?

your check on the turn and again on the river may well have given him the green light to push with air.

The push looks soooo weak, but he did call your large reraise PF:
It's either a weak A or a smaller PP imo

i dunno...maybe it's because i'm ****e, but these decisions to me are often 50/50 - either he has or he hasn't!! i'm very helpful :) - live cash tables make it easier for me to figure this one out...

    sorry ian

    oh yeah - i forgot - call!!!!

Seeing as he called your re-raise, his range includes pretty much any A, good few pairs and KQs and other high suited connectors cards.

His stats show he is aggressive post flop. I doubt he has an ace considering how he played it if he did I think he bet turn if he had more so then not. I also consider a 9 unlikely so only hands I see beating you are set of 2's and 3's, if he particulary bad 45...

Classic bluff line at this sort of level so I think I call.

You can get your money in at better opportunities although its a harder call against villain if he has been raising every hand

    .
I think I still fold here.

That really really looks like a bluff. But it could easily be AK deciding that you definatly don' thave a 9. Or maybe he rivered three pair with A2, there are some mighty enigmatic players out there

    Wrong positions lafortezza.

    I fold, he prolly has 22 ;-).

If he wanted to bluff, he would normally use the turn to do it.

i find it mad how you can adjust to playing this after posting a hand last week from 5-10. you find it ok, or is it tough?

    p.s. i fold. a "disguised" 9.

disguised means badly played here imo

I folded after a good think. He showed QJo. I was pretty annoyed with myself. His line stinks of a bluff.

The levels I play depend on my tiredness/mood. I have the bankroll for higher stakes but often find it too stressful after working in an office all day as I make lots of bad decisions because of fatigue. I was even playing .10/.20c on GJP about a month ago when I'd cleared my account of everything except the rakeback. I try to only play the bigger games on weekends as the games are softer then too. I also switch games regularly between NL holdem, PLO, PLO8, Limit O8 and NL 2-7 lowball.

I find playing tight ABC poker at 0.50/1 quite relaxing as people like to give their money away. I'm gonna be jobless around March/April time, so I need to get used to playing those stakes as I plan on taking a break from office work for a while. My bb/100 at .50/1 is well over 10 over a large dataset, so I know its a game I can beat comfortably. The only time I ever lose is when I make stupid bluffs or tilt. I'm also planning on doing some extensive travelling in the short-medium term and I think online poker would be an ideal way to make money while living somewhere like Laos or Thailand.

It took me on average 20 mins to check my email over there. Good luck with poker!
