    Hi all,

I'm new here, I am at the moment envolved in the very early stages of set ting up a community radio station. We have talked to the BCI and had some postive feed back from them. We have also sent up a board of directors (commitee) but we need as seventh member. Hence one of the reasons for this post, would anyone one be interested in joining the commitee, we are looking for someone with experience in community radio, or radio or has run a buisness before. Sorry to be so vague but it is literally at the intermediate stage and organisation still needs to be done. Also if anyone has any advice it would greatly appreciate. Sorry area interested of the community station is as Dublin based student radio station.

    Thanks for your time BlueSmoke

Maybe you could let us know what area you're interested in being based in so that interested people could see if it was in their area.

If you haven't already then get in touch with Craol it's the Community Radio Forum of Ireland and you should be able to get plenty of advice from them.

What part of Dublin will it be based in?

    Hi,

Thanks for the replies, the station has to be based in the city center or close too. So that it will have easy access for all colleges. In the new year we will be contacting Croal and BTS for advice.

    Cheers BlueSmoke.

That was tried before. DCU used to have a community of interest license with Dublin Weekend Radio, when the license was up for renewal they tried to work with UCD and Trinity to have a single student station for Dublin cover the 3 colleges... but the plan fell apart at the 11th hour apparently.

    Hi Monkeyfuge,

Yep I heard about that and talk to a few people invovled. I think the prob was that of who was going to be in control of the station.

    Cheers
