Failing a repeat module?

Just wondering if anyone knows what happens when one fails a repeat module in semester 2? i.e repeating a christmas module in the summer and failing again.

do you have to repeat the entire year just for one module which will only be around 2 hours a week in college and will only last 1 semester?

*I think*, you will be eligable to repeat the module in the next stage of your course provided you have passed at minimum 50 credits from the year. Depending on circumstances, if the failed module is optional or an elective you can take up a new module but if it's a core module you've failed you will have to repeat it. If you repeat any module you'll have to pay a proportion of fees.

However, in the case of someone failing an exam at summer, repeating it a Christmas the following semester and failing it..... the scenario may well be very different. It's way to confusing.
