reviews for that TV aren't great, and it's pretty old. you'd get something much better online for a similar price

that model I can only find american reviews and pricing, I checked the philips site and think it might be this one (although I'm not sure) 42PF7411/12

    Snake ;)

The Philips 42PF9830A/37 is a 42-inch LCD HDTV that offers innovative features and an attractive design, but its picture quality suffers greatly from an ineffective video processor that has little effect on common image artifacts.

The resolution is also only 1024 x 768, when i'm led to believe the minimum acceptable is 1366 x 768 Pixel

US review not the same model as on sale over here, somebody pop into Tescos and check it for us :)

Dont think that review could have been worse. "WE will use this as a reference of how bad it can be"

Yeah, if that *is* the model on sale, it'd be a waste of a sizeable chunk of money I'd say! Hopefully its a different model! Although it does go to show that you really need to do your homework before buying one of these yokes!

Maybe I'm missing something, but where's the 42" for less €€ than what the OP said Tescos have them for? That's what I asked.

Hi, Does anyone know if you can connect a PC to this Philips 42PF5331 TV.

I bought one, the guy in DID told me it could take a PC connection but when I went into PCworld yesterday to get a cable the guy in there told me it could not tale a PC input.

Any ideas? What can I do? DID are not answering the phone.

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,075 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

There is no pc connection on this model so therefore you will not be able to connect it unless of course you have a hdmi connection on your graphics card

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 615 ✭✭✭Hydromonkey

If you have a DVI output on your PC you can get a DVI to HDMI adaptor to connect it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Fr Dougal

I don't imagine I have a DVI connection on the PC. (Edit, it's a pretty basic Dell Optiplex GX 260 PC)

I wouldn't have bought it if the sales guy hadn't said I can connect my PC to it. Do I have any grounds to return it and get my money back or buy a diffrent TV? (Edit: I only have it 2 days and have all packing)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,497 ✭✭✭jarvis

It was available and the model no was 42pf3331/10

How about a HDMI to DVI connector on the TV, and a VGA to DVI adapter on the PC?
