Embarrassing potential STI query

    I'm married and monogamous.

What is curious about it is my wife showed me a rash
which was nearly all in her upper to mid pubic area just
yesterday after she had a shower. Obviously she will
get it seen to medically ..but she was trying to figure
herself what it was and she mentioned for a moment pubic
lice but she was quick to say "but how could I have caught
that".... Of course at this stage no diagnosis has been made
but I had a look on the net and the rash/small dark/pink
discoloured scabs look like the medical photos of crabs, etc.
I didn't care to look too closely , eg for possibility of lice, etc.
    (sorry for being graphic...)

This may turn out to be just a heat rash or some allergy to
shower soaps/cremes,etc but .. before I jump the gun...
if it turns out to be crabs/pubic lice.. my understanding is that
the 90 plus percent cause of this is through sexual contact
with a carrier. Some websites mention an outset chance of
bed linen ,dirty towels. I have no idea how to approach this
with her should it be established that this is crabs/lice.

The fact she was so open with me in showing me the
symptoms makes me feel she has nothing to hide.
If she goes to the doctor it is going to be very clear
as to what was diagnosed on account of the medicines/creams
    prescribed...

I'm a bit confused.. and probably I'm jumping way ahead
    of myself...

    Advice ?

Wait until it is diagnosed before you draw any conclusions about your wife. But if it is an STI you dont suffer from, you know its time to be asking a few questions.

    my understanding is that
the 90 plus percent cause of this is through sexual contact
    with a carrier.
Assuming this is what is causing the rash (big assumption) 10% is a pretty large percentage.

'I agree with both of you. I won't jump to any conclusions until
I see how any medical investigation of it goes for her.
I'm kind of being preemptive here because I know that if it came
back that she had crabs my head would be even more over the
place if I hadn't checked firstly on what the possibilities were...

The 90 percent figure I gave wasn't literal. Material on the web
seems to be very nonspecific about the actual risks of getting
it from non sexual contact. Some sites say its virtually impossible
and others leave the option kinda open.
Once again I'm going to have to sit tight for a few days and see
if her symptoms die down or if she goes to GP about it. It's
pretty awful feeling for me to have this slight concern. I'm being
very open minded on it.. because it could be absolutely anything
and especially could be very innocent.

OP - Maybe take a look at this (it is from public info website run by the NHS).
Your wife may have hugged a relative or friend with a beard or moustache. It can be transferred as easily as that.

It would seem that she is being very open with you regarding the matter. Sounds like you have little to worry about.

rash/small dark/pink discoloured scabs look like the medical photos of crabs, etc.

Sounds also like scabies. They have a habit of going for the pubic region as its warm there and thats where they like to breed (little fúckers).

As a precaution against scabies get her to douse herself in Lyclear (2x tubes head to toe and cover up when going to bed). If its irritable its usual the itching will last for up to two to three days after application (dead scabies irritating the skin).

Check out scabies on google for photo's as well.

    I hope its not crabs.

    K-

OP, I've no medical knowledge of this but maybe she caught lice/scabies or whatever from trying on clothes while out shopping? You never know who's been trying stuff on before you and judging by the amount of make-up you see on clothes in shops, there could be anything else transferring too.

Without getting too personal i assume you and your good lady have been personal quite recently, if so, do you have a red rash and itching. If the answer is no then she doesn't have crabs because you would now have them. A soap allergy sounds a good shout.

I agree with Carrigat Exile, could be just a simple allergy.
