They've got a portable phone in this week which I thought was overpriced as well

At what price would you put this item at? Ot would depend on the software surely. If the software bundle is decent, with 1gb ram and 320 hard drive, it could reach €999. Granted the software would have to be good

It's not that bad, is it? Similar spec on dell comes to just over a grand (OK, that's imncluding a 15 inch monitor, but it's a 4200 instead of 4600, and the next gfx card down)

Nah its a bad deal, can get a better computer for half the price, actually less than half the price if you look around on ebay.

Also, I know the dell outlet has ended its 140euro off deal, but you can still get a much better PC there for less, around 700/800 inc VAT for core 2 duos with more ram and more space.

OK perhaps my initial post was a bit harsh on this product, I've been over on Komplett and the processor alone costs €215 http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=323807, I've added up all the other components and it comes to about €900, and thats not including the software (I think it's Microsoft Media Centre Edition.) By the way, I've seen the full specs of this PC in Lidl, and the huge software bundle as far as I could see, amounts to Works 8/Works Suite and a game.

So for this particular spec, it's not a bad deal. But for a computer on offer to the public through a supermarket, most of whom would be perfectly satisfied with a less powerful PC, it represents very bad value. Considering what else is on the market, the average consumer could get far more for their money. For example a 17" screen at a minimum, 19" if you look around, a Vista upgrade, a printer and delivery to your door, are just some of the extras you could get for that price and lower.

Just at the weekend I saw a PC in Tesco with a 17" screen and printer included for about €529, that was with the 25% special weekend reduction. But it's still an example of what Lidl's competitors are offering, for almost half the price.

Not a great deal. Dell would give you the same machine with a 19" monitor for the same price nearly.
