Hey, just outta curiosity, does anyone know anything about clubs or socities that go on expeditions or trips abroad, like scientific trips abroad and stuff. Or even just runs or cycles for charity, stuff like that?

Does it have to be a photography society?

The Photo societies in DCU, UCD and Trinity are unactive,
as far as i can tell from their unupdated websites.

no it doesn't, just a society that organises trips like this, so i can just bring me camera along.

Pretty much. They do a lot of night sky watching stuff in the Phoenix Park and did a trip to Turkey for the total eclipse last year.

I checked it out, and that'd be pretty cool for gettin some starry shots. Have you ever gone out with them?

I did their ten week course during the year but otherwise no. Part of it is laziness as I don't like the trek into the Phoenix Park from Swords too much but apart from that I wasn't so well equipped on the lens front either. Might consider it during the year to come though.

In response to your question in general, most sports clubs seem to organise trips abroad at this stage, and twinning committees are good for that. Dublin city is twinned with several interest sounding places so if you can get hold of who's responsible for organising that (starting with the PR department of the City Council I guess) that might be interesting.
