I'm in the middle of trying to get myself a DTT card for my PC (I'm using MediaPortal as a HTPC) but I'm limited by having only 1 free card slot -> a half-height PCIe slot.

But I've found a dual DTT card that seems to fit the bill for what I want. [I would have prefered hardware decoding but it only uses software decoding]

Anyway, the question is... the site says the card supports recording in MPEG1/2/4. [The user manual also mentions that if you have a 1.6GHz P-M it can record HDTV] Any know what this means? I'm assuming that it will support the current DTT Trials...

But what, specifically, should I be asking the manuafacturer to see if it is likely or not to support HDTV via DTT?

You need at least a 2GHz or better and X1600 or similar / better graphics card for HDTV.
Also a very big screen that can do 1920 x 1080 (1920 x 1200 is closest PC size).

There is not likely to be HDTV on DTT for years. MPEG is more likely. Don't worry about HDTV as long as it has MPEG4 VIEWING. (The MPEG4 may only be SW capture of analog i/p, check!)

There is an Austrialian site with a single PCIe card that has dual DTT and Dual Sat tuners!

    Thanks Watty...
For MPEG DTT reception what exactly (bare in mind that I'm no clue here on the technical stuff) should I be asking these guys to be sure their card would support MPEG DTT?

Also, a single PCIe card that has dual DTT and DVB-S! Send me the URL, please.... [if it is a low-profile card it could be the dogs]

I would be grateful if anyone else who knows the URL for this Oz site with the dual DTT + dual DVB-S tuner could post it here. [or any other sites where I might get a separate dual DVB-S (external: Firewire or USB2) tuner] --> if posting these URLs is a problem for the mod (i.e. advertising) then send them to be via a PM... thanks.

Also does anyone else know the pertinent questions to ask regarding DTT MPEG support for tuner cards... (i.e. anything to do with QAM16 vs. QAM64?)

I've been told that if I get a card with a hardware decoder it will put less load on my CPU... but if the card relies on a software decoder then it is more likely to be able to support (assuming the PC can handle it) DTT changes (via driver updates). Anyone any opinions?
