well the only other option is the HD AV Cable if ya got component in red, green, blue connections on the back of the tv. If not use a kvm switch whihc is what i have on one of my mine for switching between the pc and 360 on vga.

please excure my lask of knowledge but is there much difference between the vga and the component one(the one with the little switch that you get in the box). which is better for hd?

I was looking at this component cable setup by monster in DID the other day, it costs about 74.99, was wondering has anyone got it , is it better than the microsoft version,
it certainly "seems" to be the best component cable solution.

I might be missing something here but why then do people by the vga cable to use with their HDTV. i know some use pc moniters and i understand he need for a vga cable there but i just don't get the use of it with a hdtv.

Using VGA will allow the xbox 360 to upscale SD DVD's up to 1080p. Component only to 576p I think.

Ok folks. excuse my ignorance. Tech aint my fortee.

Is there a lead you can get that connects directly into the back of your xbox360 and directly into the hdmi imput on the dack of the TV. Surely the lead you get with the xbox degrades the qualtiy of it.

The 360 does not support hdmi.

The get best picture quality, vga is your best option.

Component cant allow proper dvd upscaling, and looks as jaggy as hell when playing games.

    VGA ftw.

Well that completely shatters any clarity i had on the matter

I use component at the moment I don't see any jaggies, I also have the VGA cable but after 6 months I've gone back to using component. Why, Colour Clarity, when running component on my TV the picture has a wider colour range and a deeper black then through VGA which although it looks slightly sharper, it also looks washed out.

Having said that it all depends on you TV, I have a Philips 32" HD LCD screen.

One thing about jaggies though first time I plugged in the component cables I got lots of Jaggies too, I thought this was very strange as most games run with 2X-4X anti-aliasing. The reason for this was that by default the Sharpness Setting on my TV was nearly at the highest setting so it was taking the 720p image and putting a huge amount of sharpening onto it, anyway I turned it down to 0 and the jaggies are gone without the image being soft.

I know that the 360 is not allowed to upscale DVDs to 720p over component but I think the tradeoff in having better black levels outweights the slightly softer image for me.

Really all this depends on you TV and how it handles component and VGA outputs from the Xbox 360

I have to agree with Irish Grumpy, watching the hd dvds you could see a grainy picture on the dvds but once I connected the vga cable, the whole picture was crystal clear. I suppose it's all down to the tv.
