Yeah you can get plenty of things for them. Graphics cards included. TV Tuners, audio cards, network card, etc....not sure where you'd get them though, and they're usually quite expensive compared to their pci counterparts.

The vast majority of PCI-Express motherboards still have 2 or 3 PCI slots on them anyway, and I can't see that changing until PCI-Express becomes more dominant than PCI.

It's kind of bad how the motherboard manufacturers are moving towards pci-e and apart from the graphics cards a lot of the hardware manufacturers are sticking with pci.

PCI Express (x1)... is not a PCI Express (x16), so don't buy a PCI-Express graphics card thinking it'll fit. They're good for adding Firewire ports, tho.

Its usually the small slot farthest away from the CPU [usually, CPU, PCI Express (x16), 4 PCI slots, than a PCI Express (x1) slot].

Cool. But you'd be surprised how many calls I get (esp coming up to xmas) by people who just bought/planning to buy a PC, and wondering what graphics card fits into it.

Out of interest (and also to help pimp meh PC), any idea where one would buy said cards?

They're rather rare but I imagine Google, or Froogle might point you in the right direction. If you needed extra Serial ATA controllers, SATA cards are all PCI Ex-1.

I don't get it either about the whole business of putting fewer PCI slots onto boards these days - personally I like being able to add lots of peripherals and the vast majority of them are still PCI.

It's pretty disappointingly the rate of pace it takes for them to change over by the time PCI-e peripherals are common PCI-e v2 will be out (thankfully it's backwards compatible).

There are some SATA controllers in PCI-e x1 form along with some high end SATA RAID card in PCI-e x4 as well.

Abit recently announced a PCI-e x1 WiFi card.

Firewire and USB cards can be gotten mostly in the US it seems like one of these also some Mac specialist stores as well.

Still slim pickings at the moment though.
