Probably, I think they will deserve it too for not giving Dowie any time. I thought he was starting to turn things around when he got the boot.

Agree about the finishing, could, should have been a rout after 15 mins. Still that would have been less exciting. :)

I'm watching the Arsenal game with the sound off (listening to music), is there any reason for portsmouth crazy defending? They dont seem at all bothered to let Arsenal have the ball in and around their box. The ball was put out wide for a cross and not one portsmouth player went out to close the player down. Then the long shot just before the 2nd goal that James saved fell to another arsenal player just outside the left hand side of the 6 yard box, yet both pompy players between him and the goal looked fairly disinterested and stood watchign him chip the ball back in.

You could see that goal was coming from when the long shot came in.Crazy.

SteKelly, I came in just as the second goal was approaching - I agree. The lack of urgency was astonishing. When James parried the first shot there was hardly a sinner in Blue in the area.

Once you pick someone as your captain before the deadline (11.30am this morning) it goes through.

Bolton now 1-0 up against Villa, a penalty from Gary Speed after Petrov fouled Anelka.

In the Reading and Blackburn game, did anyone else think that McCarthy was offside
    for his official 1st goal?

Also how come the referee did flag Penderson off side when he was sitting on
the keepers face when there was a shot taken on goal?

Oh and DIVE if I ever seen one by McCarthy in box...

    1-2 in the end.

While on the Reading and Blackburn game did anybody else notice that the linesman that ruled out 2 of McCarthy's goals was wearing shoes not boots not runners but dress shoes.

Not rocket science but looking at Man City's incredible home record (4 4 0 7 1) and Tottenham's abysmal away record (0 3 5 3 14) I strongly fancy City to do well tomorrow. Having said that Spurs will probably win at SJP next week...

Good to see Liverpool win again. It was only 0-1 for a long time and Liverpool wasted quite a few chances. They allowed Charlton to come back into the game and a better side would have done. So not a good sign perhaps.

A great goal by Bellamy though, nice right foot finish first time and these are the type of runs and goals I want to see him do more of. Also a good finish from Stevie G for the third. Pennant was also brave with his header that led to the penalty. Alosno took it, and I just wonder why Stevie G didnt. I dont care which one of them takes the peno's but I would prefer one who does it week in and week out, and Stevie is my preference.

The formation was 4-4-2, Hyppia recalled but wasnt troubled.

A good result, but this was against relegation opposition so no need to get carried away. 3 pts target, 3 pts achieved. Of more note was Arsenal dropping 2 pts at home. Portsmouth did the same to Liverpool so its evens on that score. Liverpool now 1 pt ahead of Arsenal which is good to see, but this is going to be a long season. Liverpool have been getting good results of late but they will need to maintain that, achieve targets and pick up some points against the others of the big-4.

In the Reading and Blackburn game, did anyone else think that McCarthy was offside for his official 1st goal?

Yes, it was slightly. Some are given, some aren't. I think in this case McCarthy was playing along the line for the whole match so one just had to come off. He had loads of space/time for many of his chances that were called off and rightly so, so he just needs to learn to sit back that extra half yard, and he will get many more against poor defences like he was playing today.

I didnt see Doyle do that much today. He didnt seem pacey. Let's hope its not a sign of the start of a goal scoring drought .....

Ah come on, its three games without a goal but it's hardly a crisis. I watched The Premiership and MOTD and the highlights were hardly extensive, so there wasn't much to go on, but he has showed his ability over a number of years now and there is no reason to start questioning him just yet.

He's still only a goal off the top of the scorers chart.

Aliadiere just doesnt have the right type of skillset to be a target man. He is more a type of player that plays off others, so I think Wenger misused him today. Van Persie plays better with Henry.

Arsenal have to thank Adebayor for playing to his strengths and that 'young lad' Gilberto is playing his socks off. I'm impressed with his attitude.

Arsenal missed Henry again today. How long can his rest last? Does anyone know was he at the match today?

Yeah he was, Sky seemed to have "Henry-cam" out in force yet again. I reckon he'll be back by the Liverpool game.

You obviously don't watch City enough. Spurs have a poor away recored so they'll beat us, same as we beat Villa when they had an unbeaten home recored. Whatever the form says I go with the opposite when it comes to City. Usually works!

it was third playing fourth, why should Arsenal have won comfortably?

Because of how they played in the game. Portsmouth scored two great goals, but on the whole, until the end of the match, offered little going forward. When Arsenal wanted to turn it on, they destroyed Portsmouth, but for some reason they didn't turn it on until they were 2-0 down. They should really be beating everyone bar the top two, as they can and really do have the ability, as a result, it is points dropped.
