Taxi regulation

Im sure there's a few Dublin taxi drivers on the board who might be able to give a heads up on this question.

Ive noticed that any taxi ive seen since the new regulations were introduced are displaying the new window signs in Irish only. I assume that both english and irish versions are available, so why havent i seen any and why have i had to listen to a mate moaning like hell to me today about it, after he may have been overcharged.

Is it a form of silent protest? (as most of us won't have a clue how to read it) Or is it a case that the signs are only available in irish? (which would be very stupid, but unlikely as everything we do tends to be bi-lingual)

Whats the story with taxis that don't display anything? (are they the hardcore rebels?)

Finally, today on Merrion square outside Dail Eireann, I witnessed the worst kind of advertisement for Dublin taxis. One taxi driver walked across the street in front of me to argue with another taxi driver (with passengers in car). They appeared to be arguing about who should've taken the passengers. Lots of shouting, foul language, two fingered salutes etc. Have to say, they acted like gurriers for mature men. As I said, a bad advertisement.

There double sided, English one side, Irish on the other, the reason i think the english is on the inside would be for any tourist getting taxis, so they know there riight Fare and cant get ripped off.

    Nice one Pa.

My mystery solved. Only take taxis in Kildare and they don't seem to have them yet.

Will check out Dublin ones next weekend.

The stickers are being recalled by the regulater as they are getting complaints that the sticker is a bit thick, :D they seem to burning out window regulaters, new thinner ones are being issued

Any taxi I've used has had one Irish and one English on the inside (and presumably the alternative on the outside).

    There are a few problems:

    1. The braille should have an indicator as to whether it is numbers or letters. It should also be in front of passenger, not beside.

    2. The RSA have a complaint regarding further obstruction of windows.

    3. Some drivers simply haven't received them.
