    as the title says...
every tournament it seems is now a double chance. what happened to freezeouts?
alot of casino's and tournament organisers seem to favour the double chance structure, whats the thinking behind this?

a lot of people think they are getting extra value if they can lose their chips twice for the same price

Yeah I think it's just a case of people not understanding what a DC is and thinking they're getting more value.

    Nonsense.

I can't understand people that top up in on-line games, especially ppp, you start with 2000 chips, and after about an hour you can buy another 2000, at that stage they are worthless IMHO as most people will have very large stacks, the 2000 extra isn't going to make you more dominant or anything

Not sure what you're talking about exactly.

Maybe you should start a thread on the "false economy" that is re-buy tournaments.

DC are enjoyed by both the player out to make more money and the player playing for fun.

because the player plays for fun, and waits to bust to get his second chips, the player playing for more money has a greater edge by talking his chips earlier, usually at the start or when a big pot is won at the table.

I am of the opinion too, i am on record as saying that i find most DC are like 2 crapshoots. fair enough if they are 5K and 5K, fitz 1,800 and 1500 is terrible. whats the point in playing for 1500 chips with blinds at 200-400?
Freezeouts are much better, the quality of the game in the red cow is hardly recognisable from the previous DC. Great lil freezeout now...

you do realise you can take the chips at anytime right?

obv the structure in the fitz is a crapshoot, but thats nothing to do with the fact its a DC

I think events just feel its easier to get two $20 than $40 for a freezeout etc, so its really a marketing thing that makes it look cheaper to play, I personally dislike them and far rather the red cow freeze out than the rebuy method, if I knock a player out, I want him out, specially a tough player

of course i realise i can, but even if i did its the fact most dont and they are "pot committed" with only the small blind in. it just makes for a terrible game.
