Bah, it's never happened to me before, but when restringing my Tokai, tuning up the high E, it went "Pang!" on me. :(

Karl Hungus has officially broken a string.

You've never had a string broken before? Not even when playing the guitar?

Anyone had a string break on them mid-song in a concert? Not fun if you're doing an important solo at the time!

Nah, I don't need any more strings, still got 2 packs of 10's left, thankfully.

My guitar drawer is looking kinda bare though, will definetly need to stock up on some more strings in the new year.

Nope, never before. Not even on purpose.

Wow, never. Dude, you aren't playing guitar right if you don't break a string mid-solo. That and blood. If you have never played so much that your strumming hand bled onto the body and strings, then you need more emotion in your music..

The best way to break a string is pulling up on the trem while bending a pinch harmonic! WheeeeeeeeeeeeeeBOOOOM!

Karl, it sounds like something broke the string rather than it broke(if that makes sense) Just tuning alone wouldn't really do it but I guess you know this if it has never happened before. Might be a sharp edge on the bridge or just crappy strings ;)

Re string it and then do as Gordan said and play hard so you break a string and bleed and then your all f*cked up in the head. Yeah!

I don't know about the blood (yuck!) but I have certainly broken hundreds of strings in my time.

FWIW I just broke a brand new high E today while I was stretching a new set.

Some prick got blood all over my acoustic at a get together just after Christmas last year. I'd just bought it. Took ages to get it off. It went into the inlays (vine inlay on Ibanez AEL40SE) and everything. Could/should have killed him. I think long and hard before allowing anybody near my stuff now.

**** cleaning it. You bleed on the instrument = you've just bought it. That's disgusting.

It's all about bleeding all over your instrument.. Plenty of times have I cut my finger up trying to play rhythm after dropping my plectrum.

Evidently you are not a member of The Secret Board, sir. :p

I've broken one string in my life while playing, and since it was a bass string, I think that's kind of a high average. :D

Edit: I've never bled on my instrument, as my surly meathooks have callouses like diamond-plate.

My friend has broken a Low E string on a bass on two seperate occasions playing with me.. either he is super human or there's some kind of bass curse in playing with me.. it was in two different bands on two different basses. Neither of which were his.

I play bass with a pick and do alot of big chords, strum it pretty hard and do alot of tuning changes..... Ive broken every string about 3 times. Funny story, when I first started playing bass years ago I had'nt a clue about music theroy or tuning, I bought a 5 string cause it looked cool and on my first tabs the tuning was for a 4 string E,A,D,G and what I did was unwittingly tune the low B string to an E and so on, I kept breaking strings but did'nt know why, eventually the whole thing started to buzz or fret badly so I brought it to Musician Inc where I got it and the guy looked at it and said the neck was completely warped but he did know why, i told him how I tuned it and he still never copped it, he thougt it was just a new way of tuning the idiot and when he went to replace one of my broken strings he tuned it the way I had been tuning it, to this day I dont know why he did'nt realise what he was doing, but he broke the string tuning it, the look of shock on his face, he said that was the first time he had ever broken a bass string, but he still never corrected me.

Nope, never before. Not even on purpose.

Do you play the guitar or just tickle it?!!

Congratulations on this new event in your life. May it be your last.

I've broken more strings tuning than playing, and thankfully never during a gig.
Broke a bass string once when tuning which hurt like F**k when it caught me in the face. Moral - re-string when sober only.
