Dell Outlet - When do they refresh?

    Hi,

Just wondering if anybody knows how long it takes the dell outlet to re-enter systems into the stockroom once they've expired in your cart - i was trying to buy a system earlier but it expired before I could find my credit card - that was about 3 hours ago and its still not back. I really want to buy before midnight when the 140 off offer expires so i'm kind of hoping it'll be back before then, unless somebody else has already bought it. So can anybody help put me out of my misery and tell me how long it normally takes to be updated?

Dunno man, I had a bargain core2duo ordered last week, which I cancelled so I could order it again but with a monitor - I never saw it again.

I think its daily as the units come in prob in the morning, was defo a refresh on monday morning i got a c521 2Ghz dual core AMD 1Gb Ram 250HD for €350 im getting 2 * 20" new dell monitors in jan for 250 each or there abouts so im told :D for my main system. This system is just going to be used as a media/download server for my Buffalo Linkstation.

Sorry read it wrong mine dissappeared also but came up again 1-2 hours later i think its random. Same happened last laptop i ordered but it was 3-4 hours keep refreshing.

No idea. Never left anything in my cart like that. Have noticed systems reappearing after a few hours though. Couldn't be exact about how long it takes though.

    Thanks for the replies.

I doubt it's going to turn up again at this stage, and if it does turn up tomorrow it'll be at least €140 more expensive, plus delivery, so I don't know if it i'll be worth it, since I don't particularly need it. Would've been nice if i could've gotten it all the same though

AFAIK I know, once you put something into your cart, you have 15 minutes to buy it, otherwise it becomes available for someone else to buy. Sounds to me like someone else snapped it up in those 3 hours. Sorry dude!

There were better deals before the €140 offer IMO.

Yeah, seems like somebody must've snapped it up, although I did check constantly every 15 mins for the last 4 hours... Must've just been extremely unlucky. Might give them a call in the morning just to be sure though.

Nope this isnt the case. I know on the site thats what it says but i have lost systems from my basket during checkout being too slow and the SAME system does not reappear on the site sometimes for hours.

I've noticed systems appearing after a few hours too.

Gave Dell a call at 9am on the dot this morning, but it turns out that they can't search systems by the system identifier code, which is the only reference I have apart from the make/model/price. And they can't seem to see it there either, so I'm thinking some lucky so and so managed to buy it in the few minutes between me refreshing the pages, or else Dell simply decided not to sell it for some reason.

Its been 15 hours now, so I'm kind of losing all hope!

I picked one up yesterday, C521 AMD64 3200+, MEMORY 512MB 533MHZ DDR2, 80GB 7200RPM SATA HARD DRIVE, COMBO DVD / CDRW 48 X, INTEGRATED NVIDIA GEFORCE 6150 LE GPU ,INTEGRATED AUDIO WITH DOLBY DIGITAL 7.1,MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFESIONAL, MOUSE/KEYBOARD.... and a few more bits n pieces.

All in it cost me €193 including delivery. I've never bought off Dell before whats the C521 like? Also I have other parts at home like a DVD burner and other hard drive that I intend to install. How does this affect the warranty does anyone know?

ps . hope that wasnt the system you were buying

No, that wasn't the one I was buying, although I have been told by Dell that the one I was after is sold. It was an absolutely amazing deal (so amazing in fact that I think it must have been a price mistake) - an Inspiron XPS M1710, 2048MB RAM, 250GB HDD, 512MB graphics, Windows XP Pro. And it came to the pricely sum of €440, including the €140 off promotion, VAT and delivery.

Configuring this yourself on the Dell website comes to about €2490.

Needless to say I was quite pissed when I realised I had missed it.

I'm just trying to console myself by telling myself that they would've copped on and not sold it at that price.

wow.... no wonder your pissed thats some system. wonder if it actually sold for that price

I didn't realise they could get 250gb into a M1710, is it an option on the main site? I've been watching the Outlet on and off for the last couple of days and you did very well to find bargains like that. I certainly haven't seen any close to being as good as any of those.

Hard to believe it was listed at that price  , I'll have to start lurking at the dell outlet

    I didn't realise they could get 250gb and 512gfx into a M1710

Neither did I. In the pop-up window that appears when you click on the system identifier number, it mentioned something about two different hard drives, I think one was 150 and the other 100, although I've got no clue how they're supposed to fit two hard drives in there.
The graphics card I do remember, and was a 512MB nVidia GeForce 7950 GTX.

So yeah, very very pissed off and hopelessly checking the outlet website again and again.

Never heard of a 150GB disk.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 208 ✭✭Absolut

I don't know, could possibly have been a 100gb and a 160gb, or a 200 and a 100. I cant really remember - but have a look at this spec sheet, the HDD section looked the same as the one I saw, it was some kind of RAID array:

The XPS M1710 is hardly small enough to be able to easily carry around and use on your lap either though...

Anyway, like I said in my last two posts, the only parts I'm sure about are the model, the amount of ram and the graphics card. The hard drive I'm unsure about the specifics, but I do remember thinking it was unusually large for a laptop.

The size of the laptop isn't the point. The point is those machines differ in spec, and one is very different from the other. It can't have been 250gb end of story. I don't think they offer RAID in that machine, maybe they do. It must have been a major pricing and even specification mistake. I've never seen a bargain like that on the outlet, and if there was I doubt they'd honor it. If they did, and you got it, then fair play.

I realise that and hence the reason I said I wasn't sure of the hard drive spec, only that it was unusually big for a laptop. 250 popped into my head for some reason, but like I said before, I wasn't surE.

And like I said in my fifth post, it was cheap, amazingly so, probably too good a deal, probably a pricing mistake and probably wouldn't have been honoured.

Did I not just say all that? :D

Pity because it would have been a fantastic bargain. :(

    Aloha from Hawaii.

The dell outlet is updated in REAL TIME. The moment someone releases or loses a computer from their cart, it is put back in to the pool and viewable by all.

After 15 minutes of inactivity, anything in your cart will be removed automatically. So keep active.

Most people use a program to scour dell outlet. It's called Outlet Scanner, and you can get it on www.dealscans.com I believe. It is a great program. It will do all the work for you, you just tell it what you want. It will fill the cart with up to 5 systems and you have those 'blocked' so to speak. You can then look at each system's specs, and remove it from the cart and the program will bring in a new system that meets your criteria.

I used this program all day today until I found the perfect inspiron e1505 notebook I was looking for; core 2 duo 2ghz 3mb cache, 1gb ram, WSXGA+ screen, dvdrw, wifi, 256mb video, 100gig 7200rpm hard drive, for $959, then a 10% coupon to lose another $95.

There can be 25 notebooks in the outlet at any given time, then two minutes later there can be 3, 2, 1 or none. Most will pop back up eventually as people using things like this program decide what they don't want, but like I said, the outlet is in real time.

    aloha

    oahu - Aloha

In my experience the Irish Outlet is no way as busy as that.
