I'm looking for some help choosing for an upcoming exhibition. The brief is I needed 20 photos, chosen using the following metric:
Photos I think the local consumer would buy to hang on their wall, or give as a gift. Not choosing on the technical qualities of a photo, or how "cool" a photo is.

I scoured my collection and gathered a load of photos as possibles. I narrowed it down and down, to the stage that I had picked 20 and discarded another 15.
So - what I want you to do, and it may take a few minutes to do, is first take a look at the 20 chosen. Then take a look at the discarded 15.
    Let me know:
Which of the chosen 20 you don't think you'd be inclined to buy.
Which of the discarded 15 you think you would buy.

    The 20 chosen are here.

    The discarded 15 are here.

    Well Cian.

Ok. The only one I definitely would NOT buy from the Definites is Dubrovnik Roofs
It's nice like and well taken but would be something I would hang on my wall. The rest should stay definites.

Killary Harbour - Beautiful piece right there!

I think you should put "Paris" in. I can see that hanging on a wall....

Where are you holding the exhibition and what type of people are you hoping to attract (other than rich ones)! If you're selling, you need to know the customers, their likely preferences and then decide.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

i'd get rid of kerry coastline for the vee.

    amazing pics by-the-by!

Dubrovnik did nothing for me also. Like Ruu said it's a great picture just not something I'd want on the wall. The fastnet on the other hand is one I would love to have but I'm an island swimmer so may be biased. The Vee was amazing as well but maybe too similar to others if you're looking for a mix. I loved the water dropping too, damn, too many good photos.....:D

btw, I know nothing about photography (yet) so my opinions shouldn#t hold any weight compared to the others on here.

I would include the shot of Paris too and maybe drop the roof shot although I like it. Is it my eyes again or are the verticals in the Paris shot a little off?

    Stunning!
I'm no expert but if you criteria is
"Photos I think the local consumer would buy to hang on their wall, or give as a gift. Not choosing on the technical qualities of a photo, or how "cool" a photo is", then personally I'd replace:
    Dubrovnik Roofs
    Colligan Falls
    Glenshelane

    with 3 of the following:
    Paris
    Water in mid air
    Hook Head Lighthouse
    The Fastnet

But lets face it, you are in a wounderful position, as I think all photos would appeal to any consumer looking for a picture to post on a wall, the photos are fantastic! makes one want to keep taking photos ... great stuff.

I'd add Marbella Rays, Water, Windmills and Paris and remove Kerry, Glenshelane, Sean Pobail and Pen & Paper. They're all lovely photos though. Good luck with the exhibit...

Oh dear god, I've made three of these topics on different forums and the range of opinions coming in - it's just everywhere. Some people love photo X, some hate photo X - some thing it should be dropped, some find it their favourite. Really is hard to know!
Thanks a million for the opinions though - it's giving me a really good impression on what people will and won't like. Paris is one that definetly needs to be put in, if only I could sort out the funny tilt that's in it - will have to look into that.

Thanks also for the compliments, much appreciated.

You can't possibly consider not including that bw lighthouse.

I'd seconfd the lighthouse in favour of the macro pen shot?

But these are personal things not technical or cool ones.

I'd simply prefer the lighthouse on my wall compared to the pen and paper

    Amazing shots by the way

I'm not too sure about the Kerry one. But The Fastnet is a favourite.

    wow, very good :)
I'd prolly drop macrokittenssunsets and selective coloring ones, but landscapes and cities are very good :)

That said though I'm not sure what actually sells...

    They're all gorgeous..

On my wall though? I'd probably not go for Cappoquin Bridge or Blasket Island. I love the Paris one (leave the tilt!) and Killary harbour.
