I would like to noninate all of the following to give them all a chance

    Vegasnights
    Ourselves PokerEvents
    JJP Pokermania
    Island Poker
    Aceofspades
    Marathon Poker
    Bigslickpoker/bsppokertour
    PokerIreland
Aungier street / DIT poker Socs

And any other event organisers i may have missed out on

All orgainisers should be listed to vote upon, the only thing its a pity that many members of the smaller tournaments would not be familiar with boards which influence the poll.

I also think a list of considerations should be listed to give voters an idea of what to consider.
    Like:
    Turnover in Prize Money?
    Amount of major tournament?
    Amount of tournaments?
    Standard of facilities Provided?
    Standard of Tournament Directors?
    Etc Etc

Hype builds at different times so if you poll today the last major event was GJP, if you poll on Monday then VegasNights is topical, Wednesday PokerEvents (Galway) is topical, if you poll on the 27th JJP & PokerEvents (Limerick) is topical and after the 1st Jan PokerEvents New Years Day Cup is topical and After the IPC PokerEvents is topical.

I think the whole year should be taken into account, and not have the vote being influenced as to recent events as people poll.

    Just my thoughts,

Please nominate an other tournament orgnisers I may have missed out on

    Regards

    Stephen

The Green Joker Poker Festival was rather excellent. Great structures, reasonable reg and table charges - and they look after their staff. Who is doing a better job in Ireland right now?

As I have just pointed out, Hype is built about each event and each tournament orgnisers festivalls have not yet been completed, I think this thread should not have been posted until all organisers have had their chance to shine.

As regards 'who's doing a better job in Ireland now?' I can't comment on this as I would have a bias opinion. There are many organisers doing a great job.

    Regards

    Stephen

This poll was posted same time last year iirc

If you are clearly gutted by not getting a mention maybe you should have your "big" event earlier in the year?

Seriously your posts sound desperate and needy imo - hope you can tell im in the best mood ever and in no way possible looking to be antagonistic?! :D

Im sure an admin can remove and repost the day after your event ;)

plus your 2 events are in the next calender year??!!

Edit: rant over - ul at being the poster to suffer :)

    Hello White Knight,

'If you are clearly gutted by not getting a mention maybe you should have your "big" event earlier in the year?'

Regarding above quote, PokerEvents did run in 2006:
The Irish Poker Championship last January 2006, with a total of 392 players and a Prizepool of €400,000 Euro.

    Many Super Satellites

The Irish Poker Tour in June 2006

The Counties Cup in August 2006, with 310 players

    Many more Super Satellites

    Pub Tournaments

    Pub Tournament Teams Events

And Also we run/ran weekly Tournaments in Galway, Dublin, Limerick, Cork & Athlone

'Seriously your posts sound desperate and needy imo - hope you can tell im in the best mood ever and in no way possible looking to be antagonistic?! :D'

As regards this post, many of the other tournaments where not being nominated, and as for desperate and needy I think not. We know what we do and how to do it, We learn from our past experiences and grow from them. We do not need rewards to show how we have progressed.

The main reason for my post was t make sure all the tournament organizers out there are given recognition for the efforts, as they are the ones who are building poker all over Ireland.

    Regards

    Stephen

    Stephen,

The reality is that GJP would have got very good feedback for their monthly games anyway. Also, your organisation has a slightly tainted rep due to staff issues at the big tournament you held back in the Summer.

You are correct in that everyone should be considered - but I would be mightily surprised if there is an event in the near furture that tops GJP.

    Hello LuckyLloyd,

I do realise that many tournament organisers receive good feedback from their events.

As regards the Irish Poker Tour held back in June (which i was not in attendance), there may have been displeased staff members which is an internal issue and should never have come to a public forum.

But if you do not remember. The Counties Cup which we ran A bigger event you will see that there were no complaints from that. Does this not show that PokerEvents is moving in the right direction? No need to answer

    Regards

    Stephen

This thread is not for having an "I said", "they said" discussion on Tournament Organisers.

No more than 2 nominations per person please. The results of these awards should not adversely affect your profits so I don't see the point in having a long arguement about it. Oh and no using this on posters. i.e.
"The Celtic Poker Tour, nominated for Boards Organiser of the Year" etc. Can we remember this is just a bit of fun.

Pokerevents for me. In fact, they are the ONLY organiser in Galway I trust with my not-so-hard-earned money.

English is a funny language. There are loads of ways to be ambiguous and evasive through the use of a particular word or phrase.

In this case, the use of the word "may" is incorrect. There were displeased staff members. It did come to the attention of the forum.

A lot of players wouldn't give a toss about how staff is treated - it would be an irrelevance for them as long as the tournament was satisfactory from a poker standpoint. A few friends of mine dealt (or turned up to deal) at this event and have nothing but bad things to say about how they were looked after by Poker Events.

It is only my opinion, however I feel that this element of the package should merit consideration when deciding which company is the best Irish Event organiser for the calendar year 2006. You guys won't be getting my vote.
Lloyd (and others), Please keep this on topic please (nominations only) and let's not start discussion of merits or otherwise of individual companies. I have my own opinions of certain organisations, but it would be inappropriate for this particular thread.

PokerEvents-Ste (and others), please no canvassing or pimping on this thread either, even if trying to do so in a 'balanced' way by highlighting certain events.

    Ok 5starpool,

All I was trying to do last night was nominate some organisers who's clients may not be familiar with boards but deserve a mention, as the work they are doing is invaluable to the indestry as a whole.

As I can only nominate 2 they will be

    AceOfSpades
    Marathon Poker

being both a dealer and a player on the Irish poker scene, and having worked for most of the companies in question on this thread- i feel that Green Joker Poker, in my opinion are the best beyond a shadow of a doubt. :)

Firstly I would like to say it’s an honour just to be considered in the same light as some of the tournament organisers mentioned in this poll.

Working in the industry you don’t get to see all the games that are out there so I apologies in advance to every1 I have left out.

On the grass roots level I think Nick O’Hara at Vegas Nights is doing some great stuff. His team event last February at €20 & €2 Reg with 5k chips and 30 min blinds was by the best value for money. Also in the pub tournament level, I think Island Poker deserve a mention (while I haven’t played at any of their tournament I have heard a lot of good things from some of my players on the north side).

At the high level both GJP and Poker Events have done some great work. I’ve only been to one of GJP tournaments and missed their big one a few weeks ago  . But for me personally it has to PE purely on the back of their IPC last January.

With all that said I nominate

    Vegas Nights & Poker Events

    Jp
