x0.45 wide-angle converters - any opinions?

    Sometimes feel inclined to pop one of these on front of my Finepix S5000, just for the crack.
    Sometimes 38mm just isn't 'dramatic' enough... :o

    Has anyone used a lower-end model like those listed? Are they absolute death to picture quality/an insult to a (reasonably) good lens? I know you can't build a good wide-angle lens cheaply...

    Can't seem to google any good reviews or test pix.

    I havent used a wide-angle converter but I have used a 2X teleconverter on my Fuji E550 compact. Not very very good to be honest, bit of a waste of time. The annoying thing was it wasnt one of the cheap ones it was an official Fuji one. I wouldnt hold out much hope for these. I think the maxim "you get what you pay for would apply"
