hey all just thought would throw some shots up cos i havent put anything up in ages. This was my first go at gig stuff, A Duke Special gig on Monday where Neil Hannon popped in for a hello.

The light was the same throughout the gig so made for some kinda boring shots and I had to stay in the one spot with a prime and 17-85 f/4 so not much scope for diversity. Anyway... just thought would get some feedback. More on Flickr... http://www.flickr.com/photos/click_click/sets/72157594417473916/

I think the last little red one is the best !

I think I'd prefer if they B&W was more B&W. Maybe boost the contrast a little?

Really well framed shots though, nice one. Gives a real intimate feel, or something.
    Where/when was it?

I think the Neil Hannon pictures are pretty good too, nicely captured.

Nice shots indeed, especially given how poor the light can be in Crawdaddy...

I was also shooting at that gig, but wasn't as fortunate as you to have been at the front. I was off the right, on the steps, with a 24-70mm so was stretched a tad. Not to mention the awful "red red red" lighting. Nothing new there though, seems to be pod's favourite lighting theme!

Nice shots, i like the last two in particular.

Yeah I noticed you alright!! Canon straps :)

Pity, didnt know you were a boardsie, I would have said hi. Did you put any shots online? Would be interested in seeing them. The light was dreadful. Gave such an artificial glow on everything... someone told me to stop using false colours in my shot... but I didnt touch them.. well except the BWs obviously!
Ah well, next time Im in Crawdaddys I'll know :)

    Aperture: f/1.8
    Focal Length: 50 mm
    ISO Speed: 800

    Exposure: 1/40 and 1/50

thanks :) was really nervous, really didnt wanna mess the shots up, but for a first time i was convinced I would! Fairly happy with them for a first go.

was the gig in the place on the left after you walk in?
One thing I've realised recently is that most venues usually have decent enough lights it's just the guys in charge just don't put the effort in.

    Maybe I'm wrong though.
    I usually am.
