whats thhe monthly and yearly power usage for this turned on 24/7 going to be?

right its an emachines 210 256Mb ram 2.3Ghz Celeron 200GB maxtor 2 lan cards whats the monthly and yearly running costs for such a machine 24/7
    Running FreeBSD

also plugged in 27/4 i have a netopia cayman 3347 router and a 2247 (wireless turned off)router thhat im using as a switch again looking for the monthly and yearly running cost

i have a 24 port 3com switch and the standard 3341 which seemed like it would use less that i could use and soon i will have a la fonera plugged into it www.fon.com which would you think uses the least power 3341+24 port+fonera or router+router+fonera both the routers are 4 port with wireless 2247 has wireless off and the 3341 has one port as you all probably know

    3com is only 10mbps though

so basically what im looking for you to tell me is the cost and which is the most efficient network gear to use

Have that exact one its good. My Spec 1 computer uses 195watt when at full load playing games. Second spec uses something like 175watt but i think this is cause i have a good psu. My 21inch monitor alone uses another 100watt.

Yeah, it's surprising how it all mounts up. People leaving computers on for extended periods these days is one of the major factors adding to total power requirements in the civilized world.

I'm assuming that your phrase implies first world countries (mostly the west) and if that is the case, it equally implies that other countries are "unicivilised". That's how I read it anyway.....For example: "You live in indonesia....therefore you're uncivilised.".

It's the kind of phrase that you hear in 19th century dramas on the TV.

yeah get the maplins jobber there, plug it in and set it to kwh,

then multiply the kwh by .013 and you should get pretty much exactly what the computer is costing you to run

OK, maybe I could have used a better description. I didn't intend to insult anyone, and I apologise if I did, but the point still stands.

The one I got in Lidl can be programmed with the rate per kWh, so you can see the cost literally clicking away on the screen!
