Convert Dvd to .avi?

I just got the dvd monster house and I want to back it up on my computer but only in avi ,i want it to be small bout .700 mb not in the gb!I am using dvd rip wizard but i find it stops when its nearly finished and the files are too big.Any on know good software or what i am doing wrong? Okay 2 programs for this. Both are in the " usefull sticky " thread.

They are called:

Avi2Dvd

And gordianknot. or auto gordianknot ( this one is easier )
