Tribeca & Prima Poker Networks?

    OK, I've been reading the poker posts on boards for a while now.
    I have played on Ultimate Bet Poker, Party Poker, Check&Raise Poker and now Paddy Power Poker.

    My question centres on TRIBECA really.
    My understanding is Tribeca and Prima are the underlying networks utilised by individual poker sites - correct?
    Paddy Power = Tribeca.
    Ladbrokes = Prima.

    I realise they are probably a lot more underlying networks but these are the ones I know to date.

    So the knub of the question:confused:
    When posters say "3/6 NL Tribeca hand last night" etc... why are they emphasising TRIBECA and not the individual poker site?
    Is there a huge difference between different networks?
    If so what are they, is this something I should be taking into account when signing up to a new poker site?

    Thinking of opening an account with either "Poker Stars" or "Irish Eyes" in the near future - any advice?

    Just really curious about this as I've seen it so often here.
    Cheers :D

    Ive been hearing nothing but bad things about IrishEyes, Id keep away, Stars are fantastic for tournies but the standard is ok for cashgames.

    People name the network as so many play on different skins its easier to keep up - people playing on PPP are playing against VC players and GreenJokerPoker players etc, whereas Ladbrokes are out on their own - if you play on Laddies your not playing against AllIn or BoylePoker players.

    I think when people say Tribeca it is just instead of saying what particular skin, as most (if not all, and I think it is all, but I could be wrong) of the cash games are not skin specific, so someone could be logged in through PPP, someone through VC, someone through GJP, someone through Doyles Room and someone from BlueSq, and all sit at the same cash table.

    This is the norm in multi site networks, so a lot of people just refer to the network as it encompasses all the smaller skins too that people might not know.

    As for new sites, I personally think Stars has the best software and range of games, especially tournaments and satellites etc, but they have no rakeback deals available unfortunately. They also have the biggest player base now.

    Full Tilt is also worth a look, and you can get rakeback there.

    Thanks guys, answers those particular questions but as usual raises a few more.

    Full Tilt and Poker Stars were mentioned as good tourney sites.
    I'll try one of them so as I play 75% (maybe even more) MTTs & STTs.
    My cash game is pretty non-existant really, breaking even on the lower micro limit levels.
    Have ordered 2 of Sklansky's books to help improve my cash game.

    With respect to the rakeback thingy highlighted in 5starpool's previous post, is this just for cash games?
    Do you have to be playing at a certain cash level?
    Is there a minumum playing time to qualify?

    Rakeback is available on all reg fees for tournaments too, and there is no time limit or minimum from most affiliates. For more information on this check out the signatures (bottom of posts) of several posters on this forum who offers links to affiliates, or else go to rakebackreview.com for more info. Please do not ask for more specific information as we can only talk about it generally on the forum here, but if you follow the above you should be able to get a clear picture of it.

    It depends on the Network as to whether Tournament Reg fees count or not.
    e.g.:
    UB = No
    Tribeca = Yes
    Full Tilt = Yes

    There are other loyalty schemes available too. At the risk of pimping, GreenJokerPoker.com's sponsorship system is an additional bonus that a lot of people simply havent realised they are getting. (we've already had a few people play live in 500-1000 euro entry tournies from their sponsorship fund).

    Anyway, my point is that you should look not only for the best loyalty schemes but the additional extras too. Lots of people simply never qualify for rakeback because there is a lower limit on the rake required to qualify.

    Most people could generate an entry into our 1K event just from playing even small stakes. Thats a free shot at a lot of dosh plus a seat in a tournament that a lot of people would never dream of saving up for.

    So, my advice is to shop around basically...

    DeV.

    Cancel your order if you can. For beginners books like this are simply counter productive. The best way to develop cash game play is to post hands either here or on the 2+2 forums, and to practice

    Oh crap, well I suppose they will come in handy in 5/10 years then :o

    And be prepared for some non-interesting hand analysis posts :rolleyes:
