    hi, have door saddles upstairs I need to paint. can I get away with painting them with white gloss or is this not practical? I was thinking just paint them brown but my gf wants them white. any ideas? cheers

    yeah I reckon so. I'm thinking now I might use wood dye and varnish....

    I think B & Q have a special wood floor paint that can be used. I've seen it used on something like DIY SOS or one of those programmes.

    They have a wood dye that will give you that washed out white look.
    You wont be able to keep them looking sparkly white (like the doors for example)
    if you go with a gloss etc...
