Quick question, on The Panel last night, what was the other Richard Dawkin book that Daire recommend you read to do with evolution?

The Selfish Gene. I think it was published originally in the late 70's but I'm definite it's still in print

Thanks lads, didn't recognise it on Amazon so was looking for a specific name.

    The selfish gene it is!

Yeah he was, the godless heathen. Telling us all that religion is an heriditary mind-disease and [our current methods of] teaching it to our children is child abuse.

Good stuff. He made quite a bit of sense.

Ha, I had an exam on Evolution on Monday. Interesting timing.

Passport, you can watch it at http://www.rte.ie/tv/thepanel if you don't want to wait for it to be repeated.

    Apparently religion is a virus.....

Interesting though. And the chef was good too. Best show of this series IMO. Neil Delaware is taking over the show! He's funnier than Colin Murphy

The 'Creme De La Mare' gag still has me in stitches!

... but obviously not taking it over enough for you to spell his name correctly :p

Is he actually? I heard Dara was leaving?

Maybe you're being sarcastic there cos of how I expressed what I think about Neil Delaware (I don't give two sh1ts if I spelt his name wrong btw) buuuuut....

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH? Dara can't be leaving! Seriously, I doubt he would though. He's very much a presenter over a stand-up guy (dunno what he prefers) and the Panel is going great. Though if he did leave, I would imagine we'd have Colin Murphy hosting it :(

I think O'Briain is taking a step back as opposed to leaving completely.

With the amount of times he has been appearing on Irish and UK tv over the past year (not to mention ads for Dublin pubs) I think he wants to step back from the limelight in case he becomes over exposed and people become sick of the sight of him.

Nope, not being sarcastic. Where you? I quite like Neil Whatever-aware myself.

And yea, it would be a shame if Dara left. I heard he told Podge & Rodge that he was leaving to host Have I Got News For You.

That could be chinese whispers though. Didn't see the Podge & Rodge show personally.

If he does leave I think I'd prefer Delaware take over than Colin Murphy. Murphys funny but he's better suited to where he is on that show.

Step back? how do you take a 'step back' from presenting a once-a-week show?

By not presenting it every week. The Panel is apparently getting a longer run this time out, which is interfering with O'Briain's other commitments. Or something.

I think there was talk of rotating the hosts next season. I hope Dara doesn't leave completely!

/edit: Just watched it there. I have the urge to email the link to my Evolution lecturers. I'm sure they'd get a huge kick out of his take on religion!

AFAIK Dara's going to be there as much as he can. It's just with the extended show he can't present them all. So he'll miss a few episodes and one of the others will fill in for him.

^ indeed. He mentioned last week on the podge and rodge show that he was eventually leaving i.e phasing himself out.
He didn't say he was leaving. He actually categorically said that he wasn't leaving. He just said that he wouldn't be able to host every show due to other commitments across the water.

Well as seen as HIGNFY has a different host each week one could assume that that's not gonna happen.

I'm gonna take a wild guess here, but if your lecturers are lecturing in Evolution I'm almost certain that they would be quite familiar with the views of Richard Dawkins.

Does anyone know are previous seasons of the panel available to buy?
